Today we’d like to introduce you to Jose Perez and Chris Evans.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jose and Chris. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in the Summer of 2006 after graduating from High School. I initially set out to acquire a bachelor’s in business in order to pursue a career in the real estate industry. I was looking to earn extra cash to pay for my education and find a job that would also allow me to go to school full time. I then stumbled into the family roofing and construction business which changed my perspective on my future career. I developed a passion for design and custom building at that point, after a few years, I decided I would branch out and was ready to start my own fine carpentry and custom cabinetry company. I came across a good friend of mine whom I’d met a few years prior with sales and remodeling expertise, Chris Evans. He started in roofing with his own company in 2008 where he learned the ins and outs of that trade, soon after that he discovered a love for interior design and remodeling. After an unfortunate drought with work, he moved onto door to door sales for a little while where soaked up as much sales knowledge as he could before we got to talking about construction again. We both shared the same mind set and vision for what we could accomplish. Together we collaborated and formed Perez Home Concepts. The journey has not been easy, we’ve gone through our share of struggles and different challenges that come with running a business as well as being your own boss. In the end, we know it’ll all be worth it.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course it is not all fun and games. I’d say that being an entrepreneur is the most challenging career one could have. As we like to say “If it were easy, everyone would do it.” You have to be prepared to make certain sacrifices in order to succeed and accomplish your personal and long-term career goals. Challenges that I’ve personally experienced are lack of projects which equal lack of income. Another challenge is finding the right people to join your team who can be the back bone of your company. These two obstacles alone have been the most difficult to deal with so far.

Perez Home Concepts consists of offering Fine Carpentry and Custom Cabinetry Building services. Our team of professionals and skilled carpenters dedicate themselves to the art of wood working, interior finishing, and remodeling. As a company, we are most proud of how far we have come and grown as a company in a short period of time. We put a ton of attention to detail and make sure our clients get what they need in a timely and professional manner. We also pride ourselves in keeping a small staff to ensure the highest quality on every project.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I definitely feel that the Dallas – FT. Worth Area is great for this type of business because of all the new construction development and booming economy. I would entirely recommend my city for anyone starting up. It is very diverse and I would proudly say that my city welcomes new businesses.
