Meet Joseph Dalcour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Dalcour.

Joseph, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m an adventurist, artist, and entrepreneur.

I’ve had an artistic eye for everything since I can recount. Growing up phasing through different mediums of art has helped me express myself and art style to who I have become today. It became a serious thing when I entered High school and knew what I wanted to do for a living, create art. I created several different portfolios of different hand-drawn art, but once I realized I could combine two of my favorite passions together it took over from there. That’s when I began Graphic Design on a computer. It was a brand new challenge I was ready to take on.

Years and years of graphics work tipped me into purchasing a camera as a tool. From there on, I explored photography massively to capture my own images for use in Photoshop and several other programs I was using at the time. However, I became immensely emerged in Photography along with the idea of creating images and art, that gives a sense of feeling without any graphic altering, from a real-life scene. I saw photography as a new challenge, took it on, and here I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Building up a portfolio.

Starting off with photography, you don’t really realize how bad your images are, they all look good to you, and you just know your current photo looks better than your last. Practice makes perfect. This is something you have to do constantly until you realize what looks good and what doesn’t, what is professional and what is not. I’ve always been very hard on myself with criticism as an artist, so I had to discipline myself to not take terrible photos, or edit them terribly. Once you do that and your work stands out, it speaks for itself and the rest will follow.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Joseph Dalcour Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My work basically represents my self as an artist and a person. I specialize in Aviation, Architecture, and Landscape imagery, although I freelance a lot of different subjects. Night photography is my favorite, adventuring into the wilderness in the middle of the night just for a shot is what I’m known for.
