Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Thompson.
Joshua, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I helped my father start his own pool company, working during the summers between school when I was 14. I have observed how to handle nearly any type of pool scenario and continued in his footsteps ever since and 3 years ago with his help started my own pool service business, we now collaborate in a symbiotic business relationship so that no matter the scenario, your backyard oasis is always taken care of.
Has it been a smooth road?
So far, it’s been smooth for the most part. There is always a fluctuation during spring and fall when you have the “seasonal turnover” as they say in the industry.
Basically, there are some customers that want to take the reins and do it themselves and others just want someone to take care of it so they don’t have to think about so you get a lot of turnover during those times, although usually I’d say half that want to do it themselves usually end up calling back and saying “Yeah, I might need your help again…” Which is a little funny, but I’m always happy to help!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Blue Wave Pools – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
What makes Blue Wave Pools Stand out is the fact that no matter what we always respond, I actually answer my phone! You will be surprised at how many times I’ve been told that someone decided to go with us just because I actually answered every time!
Over other things, is I am always On-Call for my customers so whether by phone, text or email you can always reach me, there have been a few situations where I’ve had to go out at 2 or 3 in the morning during the winter just to probably keep a customer’s equipment from freezing through. My wife calls me “crazy” but I’m dedicated to me business and doing my best! We also have a wide variety of network contacts at our disposal, so no matter the issue, we can get you taken care of quickly!
One more thing that makes us stand out is that I have attended several training classes and courses to obtain a Trained Professional Certified Pool Technicians license, next up is my CPO or Certified Pool Operators License. This kind of license certifies that I have been through the proper courses on pool chemistry, pool trouble shooting and maintenance that are expected of a pool professional.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the Dallas area because of the variety of people. When I meet a new customer, I’m always excited to know where they’re from, what they do, it’s crazy some of the stories I’ve heard over the years.
I guess one of my dislikes would be the traffic haha, I’ve lived here my whole life so I know the in’s and out’s but if I had to pick one thing it would probably be that.
