Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Belle.
Hi Joy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My early love for beauty sparked my interest, particularly in hair and in hair care. This was because I went natural when I was 16. I decided I would make my biggest impact and investment in hair, so I started practicing and studying Youtube videos like crazy so that I could do different styles and perfect my craft. As I got better, more people wanted to know what I was doing and how I was doing it. My hair always looks good and it is very healthy and long. So, because of that, I started making Youtube videos about my hair and other aspects of my life that pertained to beauty and lifestyle. In my early college career, I also started my Youtube channel. A lot of girls ask me for advice on a pretty consistent basis so that is a space that I use to give realistic and honest insight on life. That became is a place for me to give advice and share ways to look and feel good without breaking the bank.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but it has been so rewarding. I am blessed to be able to even have my own brand and business and to influence at any level. There are people that would kill to have the opportunities that I have had. I of course wish at times I was bigger and had more followers, subscribers, and customers, etcetera but I also have to honest with myself and remember that I have to work harder and do more in order to attract more. I have honestly been my biggest roadblock by being fearful of the unknown but what I tell myself to get out of that “is everything I want is on the other side of fear.” As people, we are scared of what we don’t know because we are conditioned that way but the people that are most successful in life don’t let fear stop them from reaching their wildest dreams.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a beauty entrepreneur and a beauty and lifestyle content creator. I specialize in hair. I love all things hair and beauty and I am a professional hair braider. I specialize particularly in natural hair but I work with all hair types. I am a hair health advocate and I make sure that all my clients have a high-quality hair experience and that I use the best products in their hair for the most optimal growth and length retention. I am most proud of myself because of how hard I have worked to get where I am now. I have been a full-time college student for the past few years and while doing that I have started two businesses and a Youtube channel. These things have opened doors for me that I never imagined and I cannot wait to see how much further and how much exponential growth that I achieve. In anything I do I am all in, my passion and purpose are enveloped in my work and creations. Anything that is created or sold by me and any service I provide, whether is it bundles, braids, hair products, lashes, or jewelry; it is top-notch. I am not only in this business for money, money can be made anywhere and in any way. I am fully invested in making black beauty experiences exquisite.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I wish I could articulate how much my big sister Qhaurium means to me in words but there is nothing to describe the impact she has had on my business. She has been the person pushing me since the beginning and without her, I would not even have a successful hair business or a YouTube channel. She believed in me before I believed in myself. She was always letting me practice on her and buying my hair when I wanted to practice on myself. My little sisters Lola and Cerissa have also been so supportive and I always know I can count on them. My best friend Kaeli for always being a great client and brand ambassador. Kaeli always makes sure that I am treated right by my clients, she is the security service that I have always needed. My best friend Sierra always keeps my visuals on point and teaches me about lighting for my products. She always sends me small business TikTok hacks. My best friend Carlie for being so supportive in everything I do since high school. My mom and dad always encourage me to be the best at anything I do. My angel Linda is my biggest inspiration and every day I work hard to make her proud of me. My family has had my back throughout my journey and I know they will continue to be there for me, offering advice and support in any way they can.
