Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Phillips.
Joy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started for me over 30 years ago. I dabbled in hair as a youth growing up, doing my friends and family hair for fun. Not realizing that one day down the road it would be my career.
After graduating High School I chose to go into Law Enforcement, I worked as a Detention Service Officer for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. I worked and did hair on the side, not realizing six years later, I will leave law enforcement and pursue a full-time career in cosmetology. It was God’s timing and purpose for my life. I’ve worked in a salon with 15 stylists, to owning my own salon for six years. I’m now in a small intimate Salon Suite, inside of Studio BW located in Duncanville Texas. My career has continually flourished over the years, and I’ve never looked back.
Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly, the road has been pretty smooth. I’ve been abundantly blessed throughout my career. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had a few minor challenges over the years, but with God’s Favor over my life, he made it possible for me to execute those minor setbacks to keep striving.

Micro-Link/I-Tip Specialist
I’m trained and equipped to do relaxed hair, cuts, color, and natural hair.
I have formulated my own essential scalp oils, “Heavenly Scalp Oils” has been proven to stimulate hair growth in customers.
I offer “Sista’s Premium Indian Hair.
I’m known for my Heavenly Custom Glueless Units, Most of all, I’m known for healthy hair care. The integrity of my clients matters to me more than just putting out a pretty style. I’m proud as a veteran stylist, to be able to still put a smile on a client’s faces. When you hand them that mirror in the end, that is the highlight of my day. What sets me apart is, It pleases me that they are pleased. It’s all about the customers! Keeping them satisfied is
my main objective.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and the least?
I was born and raised in Dallas. I’ve come across a lot of great career opportunities in my city. I’m still flourishing in it now! All positive vibes here.
