Meet Jude Russell of Privacy in Hurst

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jude Russell.

Jude, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Jude Russell. I grew up as the oldest boy of four children. I was the oldest grandchild on both sides. The oldest of all my cousins and the only young adult on the block in our small neighborhood that consisted of a bunch of adults, I never really learned what it meant to just be a kid. And I certainly never learned how to relate to other children.

Accustomed to being around primarily adults, I was always mature for my age. Even my own friends often annoyed me during my teenage years. I had a lot of people who invested in me, and I made sure to excel at most of my many hobbies. I did well in school, often knowing how to do complex math problems before the concept had even been introduced to our class. My Mom was a business major and an all-around math freak so it took effect. Looking back, I’m sure I was quite a handful, although I didn’t realize it at the time. Unfortunately, self-awareness wasn’t something I learned until many years later.

In my school days, I began to feel the pressure placed on me by my family and their high expectations. I gradually stopped my extra-curricular activities, including music and theatre art, dance, piano lessons, and chose to work on studies instead. I graduated at a top percentage of my class, although I wasn’t valedictorian—perhaps because I didn’t want to give my overbearing family the satisfaction. And then I chose a small community college and not a large public university a lot farther from home as my parents hoped I’d attend. I wanted to be a small fish in a big pond for a change.

In college, I wasn’t involved in outside activities. Therefore only after missing my love for singing, acting and fashion I decided to change my path, even though still to this day I try to find myself I couldn’t fight it any longer. Thru time I convinced myself I’d be great at being me. After a handful of jobs that paid the bills right out of college, I finally withdrew and chased after what I loved. There I continued to follow this dream to show everyone my potential, only to run into Willie Johnson the fashion guru of Dallas who challenged me to bite on opportunity. During this time I achieved more than I’ve ever image. I started to train and learn from no other than Isacc Birdlong along with his team Unique Runway. Uniques Runway had two people who also influence and changed my life James Polk and Betty Tillman. It was a great foundation to where I wanted to go. After almost a year of hard work my dream came true, I welcomed my son into the world and managed to sign with Wallflower Management all in the same day.

I was never one who saw myself with a family. But April 16, 2018 my baby boy was born and gave me a whole new reason to strive. And before I knew what had happened, this extremely motivated, single-for-life, businessman became a father. I’m proud to say this new role suits me. I’m driven, not to do great things for myself, but to spur my son on to even greater ones. I still don’t know how to relate to children in general, but I know how to distinguish between the slightest little nuances of my son’s tired cry and his hungry cry. I still don’t know how to be a kid, but I’m hoping he’ll teach me.

I started my own business called Privacy and learned to be a jack of all trades. After my son was born, I knew there was more for me to do to establish the best life for him. I began to get certified and trained in cosmetology, lash technique and designing clothes. I took the knowledge I was equipped with and created Privacy; I can now say by 2019 my clothing line will be complete and available online. As of today, I’m building my clientele and growing more and more in my career. Who would’ve thought my life would change in so many ways, I can honestly say I’m proud of the man I’ve become even though there is so much more for me to accomplish.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have had many struggles along this journey. I was put out of my parents’ house at an early age my grandparents raised me for years. I was what I felt mistreated and excepted to do all things. I begin this journey of doing what I love. An as we all know a grandmother always tell you stay strong in what you believe in and have you back. I soon begin to grow into the man I become, I was dishonored by having a child at the age of 21. In this struggle I had a no where to go and a baby on the way with a struggling career. My ability to turn what I had and what I can’t do into a business and hustle to fin for myself as well as my child. And now I have a beautiful and a successful in the making career and leaving everyday by faith.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Privacy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Dallas is the best Major city for growth and opportunities. But it’s a 30 minute drive everywhere and not even if there is traffic. There is so much to do as for as eating and shopping.
