Today we’d like to introduce you to Judy Kurtz.
Judy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started La Bella Belly in October of 2010, after being in Commercial Real Estate for 10 years. I was looking for a business that really spoke to me and when I found this concept, I knew this was it. I have always been in some form of customer service and I love providing these services to our prenatal clientele. There really is no other place in the DFW area that includes both the elective ultrasound services with the prenatal spa services. La Bella Belly provides a comfortable atmosphere for pregnant women to come to and a great place for family members to purchase gifts from during this special time in their life.
I love when we have large family’s come in to see the 2d gender or 3D ultrasounds. It’s just such a great bonding experience for all involved.
Then I get to see us provide comfort and relaxation for our clients that come in for spa services. Prenatal massage should be part of a person’s prenatal care regime. Regular massage during pregnancy can help with a multitude of symptoms, along with helping with an easier labor and delivery.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Our main struggle is just getting the word out to the DFW community. We’ve been open for almost 7 years and we still have clients tell us they wish they had known about us sooner.

I manage all aspects and do the marketing/networking. I’m known for my customer service skills, my hard work and my ability to look at a difficult situation and think outside of the box to find the best possible outcome. I’ve learned that you can’t know everything and it’s always good to get feedback from others and make adjustments accordingly. Most importantly, I’ve learned to have faith. There’s been plenty of ups and downs over the past 7 years, but I always know that things work out the way they are supposed to work out. I am just proud to say that I am a small business owner that’s created a great brand and I’m still here to talk about it.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
It’s too hard to really pinpoint one thing. I just learn from the things that didn’t work and keep moving forward. Take each day and just do my best.
