Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron J. Randall.
Cameron, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my company in 2014 and worked with Recording Artist, Kourtney Heart for four years as her Graphic Designer. After working with her and a few other industry talents, I decided to re-enter the corporate world due to business being extremely slow and my passion for Graphic Design getting lost in life challenges. I needed steady income so I became a Claims Representative with StateFarm Insurance and about a year later, became a Licensed Claim Handler in the Auto Segment. In a way, I settled for what really wasn’t my passion in life. Even though I excelled tremendously at StateFarm, deep down inside, I knew something was missing.
February 27, 2019 — I was chosen out of 3K viewers on Jesseca Dupart’s (better known as DaRealBBJudy via social media) Instagram Live for Small Business Owners and from there my business began to grow substantially. April 3, 2019 — I stepped out on faith and resigned from my corporate job at StateFarm of close to 3 years to pursue my purpose and passion. I didn’t resign from the company fearful but I resigned from the company hopeful that I was in fact making the right decision.
Since making that decision, I now work with Jesseca as one of her Graphic Designer’s for her company, Kaleidoscope Hair Products and I’ve been able to expand my services, clientele, and more. Every day, I get to do exactly what I love. But I don’t want to sell this dream of false reality either because every day isn’t easy and I deal with many challenges being the CEO of my company. I allow myself grace, I take the risk, and I know that when I make mistakes, I will be okay because I will never be perfect. I remain focused on the bigger picture and the greater goals that I have for my company and that alone keeps me motivated and at ease with the decisions that I make as a business owner.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This road has been extremely challenging for me. I didn’t know how to be okay with trusting myself. Fear crippled me from getting to the place that I am now sooner but I believe that everything happens for a reason. I speak about dealing with depression and consider myself an advocate for those dealing with depression because it is very real. I’ve found myself many days, struggling to just get out of bed. I began to realize that I was allowing others and material things to dictate my mental state.
Just this year, after getting the opportunity of a lifetime with Jesseca is when everything came full circle for me. I started to see myself differently. I started accepting myself for me as I was and not everything I wasn’t. I knew that I had to stop allowing myself to be subject to what other’s wanted me to be and I had to search within myself and be who I knew I was capable of being. Life has become easier for me because I no longer allow distractions or other’s opinions about my life define my success.
I share the personal side of my journey to show that success has no set formula and success has no certain look to it. You won’t always have great days but it’s how you react to the struggles you face that matters the most. As a business owner, you will struggle financially, mentally and you will struggle dealing with people that aren’t aware of the importance of emotional intelligence and the list goes on and on.
