Today we’d like to introduce you to Kadie Lynn.
Kadie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was real little, around 2-3 years old, my mother would sing to me Amazing Grace to put me to sleep. One morning I decided I wanted to sing all four verses at church. The preacher held me up to the podium and I sang every word note for note. I then started singing at the local opry’s every single weekend. Years went by and I started singing all around Texas. I was on America’s Got Talent in 2016, season 11, and I got to the semi-finals. The seven-month AGT rollercoaster was a blast. I met a bunch of amazing people and life long friends that will always have my back. Now, I have a band that I play with. I am playing gigs all over the place and living my dream. I couldn’t ask for more.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am in the music industry, which could easily be called the hardest and toughest industry in the world. Up until America’s Got Talent, no one would give me a chance. All anyone saw was my age. My mother would have to beg someone to just take the time to listen to me. Another thing, it’s hard to know who is actually on your side. You can’t hardly differentiate if someone is genuine or if they are just trying to get something from you.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
The thing I am most proud of within my career is my team. My mom, Deborah Roberson, is my rock. She keeps me grounded and constantly supports me, no matter what. My dad, Darrell Roberson, sacrifices himself and his sanity to make sure I am at my gigs on time and I have everything I need. My social media guy, Aaron Scott, is always pushing me and making sure I am doing what I’m supposed to as well as being here for me to talk about anything on my mind. My band manager/drummer, Billy Lomax, is just the most amazing guy ever. Not only does he manage me and the band and play drums, he is constantly trying to make sure I am being the best Kadie I can be. My roadie/boyfriend, Jaxson Lomax, supports me in every way possible.
Not only is he always by my side, cheering me on, he helps out the whole band with equipment as well as my parents with merch, among other things. My parents and I couldn’t be more thankful for him. My lead guitar player, Chris Powell, aka the definition of a goober. Not only does he make me laugh constantly, he is super dedicated to the band, which means the world, and he is an amazing guitar player. My bass player, Whisker Will, aka the definition of crazy. He surpasses me in intalect by a million miles and is constantly confusing the crap out of me as well as being the best bass player I know. Without these people, I wouldn’t have a career or be the person I am today. I am forever grateful.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood would have to be this gig that I played when I was around seven. I have no idea where I was at nor what the event was, probably because I seven, but I was singing in front of a bunch of bikers and their wives. I was singing a song called “Little White Church” by Little Big Town and I jumped off of the stage and all the people lost it. Everyone was screaming and cheering me on. I guess the reason that would be my favorite memory would be because that was my first little glimpse at what I could become. There’s a video of this memory somewhere on my mom’s Facebook page, Deborah Roberson. I was wearing white capris and a yellow and white striped shirt. I dare you to look for it.
