Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlin Aguilar.
Kaitlin, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always had a calling for all things artistic, even at a young age. Born and raised in the DFW Metroplex, I always knew I wanted to attend Texas Christian University, and I was very fortunate to be accepted into the very competitive and selective TCU Graphic Design program and graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design. While working on my senior thesis, I found that I was very passionate about designing for social causes and realized that I could design works that inspire action and make a difference in my community. Upon graduation, I immediately started to work within the nonprofit field – first for a large church, then for a start-up nonprofit and have since grown to work with various nonprofit organizations, churches, start-up businesses & corporations throughout the DFW Metroplex and beyond!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The first challenge I faced was making the transition from full-time employment to fully self-employed entrepreneurship. Everyone says they want to be “their own boss”, but to actually make that happen is a long hard road full of challenges. It was a scary decision, but one that has turned out to be extremely rewarding. The never-ending support of my family, the inspiration of my mother (who also owns her own thriving business), and my philosophy of never turning down a challenge (delving into new industries, learning new techniques and software, etc) have helped me get to where I am today.

At Tenfold Creative Co., we blend creativity with strategy, art with technology, design with business — all into a fresh, honest and compelling final product. Based in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Tenfold is a design studio dedicated to transforming stories from around the nation into compelling visual forms with long-term impact. My experience spans web design, publication design, interactive, branding & identity, package design, photography, advertising and social media marketing. I have experience empowering corporate and nonprofit campaigns with elegant design & innovative technology.
Designing for social change is one of my key priorities, and I love the opportunity to help organizations amplify their voices. I also have extensive marketing, web & social media expertise that I use to help small businesses grow. I also take on special projects such as CD albums, concert posters, food packaging and apps, where I collaborate with clients in order to think outside the box together and create something inspiring. Within my business, I believe in the power of collaboration and work with multiple professional contributors including writers, copy editors, photographers, videographers, illustrators, calligraphers and more!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I definitely learned some lessons the hard way, particularly revolving around contracts. Besides that, I am super grateful for the setbacks I have had because they’ve made me into a smarter business owner.
