Meet Kandice Miller-Brock of Gegi Photography in Central Virginia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kandice Miller-Brock.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kandice. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2009, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. At that very moment, I knew I wanted to document the highlights of her life. I downloaded apps on my phone and set up props just as you would in a studio and snapped away. In 2013, I gave birth to a handsome baby boy with the same mindset of wanting to document his milestones. After realizing how much I actually enjoyed capturing them and added encouragement from my husband, I then purchased my very first Canon DSLR camera. After capturing a few photos and posting on social media, I started to get inquires. Considering, I absolutely loved the art of photography, I then decided to start a business later on in 2016 named after my children who inspired me the most, “Gegi Photography.” I knew if I wanted to grow, be successful, and thrive while finding my WHY, live by it, build my brand and OWN IT completely!

So, here we are… I am here to serve with an eye for photography. To be God’s hands and feet with a servant’s heart and with the help of my camera. To capture that newly engaged couple, that girl that just graduated high school with her entire life in front of her, that family that wants to document those precious moments of their smaller children, that bride and groom that’s anxious for the biggest day of their lives… these are the people that I want to connect with, become lifelong friends with, providing them with professional, affordable quality images.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Absolutely not! I’ve had my share of bumps in the road. Just like anyone starting out, I’ve had to gain trust to build a clientele. Therefore, I’ve put countless hours in for free to build my brand along with working as a full-time pediatric nurse and performing the normal duties as a wife and mother. I then faced the challenge of putting my business on hold for months due to my son being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. So with the obstacles of time and simply what life can throw at you, I’ve faced many struggles. I am grateful that I can say those challenges I’ve encountered, only made me stand where I am today!

Gegi Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’ve been in business for four years. I am a Wedding and Portrait photographer. My goal as a photographer is to capture your essence, your emotions, your unique story. I believe in when photographing children to “just let them be kids,” those off guard portraits are the most precious memories. I believe photos should be timeless, as they will be looked back on for years to come.

What sets me apart from others is how you meet me at the very beginning. Making sure scheduling is a mutual convenience. Walking you through your session with informative information leading up to the day we shoot. Delivering your gallery within the expected time frame and continuing to follow up even after from the friendship built in the beginning.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Absolutely not! Every experience I’ve endured with owning a business is a lesson learned. Life doesn’t go as we plan it out to be. And for me, that’s okay. My life/business is planned out according to God’s plan. If I fall, I get back up and start again.
