So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am pleased to introduce you to Frisco’s newest home accessories boutique, located at the Shops at Starwood. Oasis Accents specializes in home accessories and small furnishings. Our products span the contemporary, modern and transitional design spectrum, with a wide range of offerings from vases to pillows to wall art to occasional tables. Bringing a new home concept to the North Dallas area has been my dream.
As an interior design enthusiast, I have always loved to decorate and find beautiful accessories for my home. My idea of the perfect shopping excursion is locating a niche-accessory boutique and looking for unique and quality pieces that are timeless. After the market downturn in 2008, I became frustrated by the unavailability of small retail outlets specializing in home accessories in Frisco. I would dread going into big box stores and walking the aisles with multiple racks of the same products. At a crossroads in my career, I became inspired and started working on my own vision and retail concept. Leveraging my 27 years of corporate executive human resources experience, Oasis Accents, accessories for the home, was born in September of 2015.
For over a year and a half, I worked tirelessly in planning every store and product detail and, on March 10, 2017, Oasis Accents opened its doors. Soon after the opening, I had the opportunity to welcome over 120 guests who attended an exquisite grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting, where customers explored our product offerings and were treated to a fun afternoon of entertainment, small bites, a signature “Oasis” drink, prizes and raffles.
Over the last three months, we have enjoyed meeting and building relationships with our customers. Our customers are excited about having a new store, with contemporary offerings, and finding unique pieces that they may not find elsewhere. Our customers are both current and new Frisco residents, who are either updating their homes or building new homes. We work directly with customers at all levels, from buying a small decorative item, to styling bookshelves or accessory boxes, to picking out art, to accessorizing their whole home. We also partner with interior designers if our customers desire more in-depth design services. Our goal is to provide beautiful pieces to create an elegant and inviting style for their dream home – that special oasis – as well as unparalleled one-on-one customer service.

My hope is that Oasis Accents will truly become the destination for beautiful accessories in not only Frisco, but Collin County. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with any new initiative, there are obstacles and challenges. Oasis Accents is a new retail store that has been developed from initial concept to store implementation. The greatest challenges have been identifying the best suppliers, building a retail space in the right location and getting the word out to our customers that we’re open in the Frisco area.

There are few, if any, niche accessory stores in the North Dallas area that carry contemporary home accessories. Oasis Accents fills a gap in the market and provides contemporary home offerings.
