Meet Kariann Konopinski of Wildflower Nutrition & Lifestyle in Frisco and Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kariann Konopinski.

Kariann, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Like many of you, my journey has been full of twists and turns. Most unplanned! And most actually unnoticed. I never set out to become a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I graduated from film school back in the day for goodness sake. But through the course of my adulthood, I had experiences and made decisions that slowly set me on this path.

I’ve always struggled with my health. Though it has thankfully never been anything life-threatening or debilitating, it has been a constant battle with allergies, fatigue, digestive disorder, anxiety, pain and from time to time – depression. I never felt fully understood physically or emotionally because I didn’t understand myself or what was going on inside my own body. I began piecing things together through trial and error, allopathic medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, color therapy and massage therapy. Throw in the running, weight training, yoga and you have the perfect scenario to confuse and overwhelm the heck out of someone.

After a few years as a stay at home mom and a change in marital status, I became a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Color Therapist. I was suffering through physical and emotional pain and was diagnosed with a long-standing anxiety disorder and mild bi-polar disorder. I knew that through massage, I could not only heal myself but help others experiencing similar. As I practiced massage therapy, it became increasingly clear that my clients wanted and needed more. More information about self-care. More information about how their body was in dysfunction. And more information on eating right. I realized that everything came back to the foundations. Nutrition and hydration were the bedrock for health. Lightbulb. I researched programs and enrolled in the best course I could find for functional nutritional foundations. Upon graduating, I put my years of knowledge and experience to work in Wildflower Nutrition and Lifestyle.

Has it been a smooth road?
Information overload and my conflicting need to learn still more, has always been a challenge. There is so much available to us online. Each practitioner in each of the healing arts and sciences will have their own experience, knowledge and opinions. Navigating through this information and managing the anxiety of school, life, family was nothing short of exhausting.

We’d love to hear more about Wildflower Nutrition & Lifestyle.
I began Wildflower Nutrition & Lifestyle in order to reach and help others facing the difficulties of anxiety, stress and the symptoms/illnesses resulting from prolonged states of each. I understand very personally that poor nutrition, trauma, injury, genetics, environmental exposures and our lifestyle choices all affect our mental and physical health. It took me a long time to understand why I felt like I did. It’s not a “one and done” fix. It’s not someone handing you a meal plan or exercise regimen and wishing you well. It’s about understanding what makes you uniquely you–and providing simple, clear actions and support for your individual needs.

At Wildflower, my focus is on women. I love working with women of all ages as I know that every age and season presents itself with myriad anxiety and stress-filled situations. Add acne, weight gain, exhaustion, bloating, mood swings and digestive problems and Girl, we need help! Within my practice, education and illumination is key. When we highlight and understand “how and why,” – it makes finding the “what” much easier! It is essential for me to take time with each client or small group in order for everyone to feel understood and find their own path toward improved health. Whether that be through self-care, clean skincare and makeup, healthy eating tips, meal plans, food & nutritional supplementation, help with chronic illness or simply understand basic nutrition.
