Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Bower.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My husband and I have been through a ton over the last ten years. We started a church in Dallas, we’ve struggled with infertility, we adopted our oldest son and have been foster parents. After all of that, our first biological son was born and was in the NICU for ten weeks. At the end of that time, my body broke down. I found myself in an outpatient therapy program for anxiety. A year later, my husband had a similar breakdown. Our family was in a tough place. But out of those difficult situations, we realized with a bit more clarity what we wanted out of life – to be on the same team. We wanted to work together, take some risks and for me to begin using my creativity in a more focused way. And so, we started Neighborhood Supply Co.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The only challenge we’ve faced thus far is that we are unable to keep up with the demand to create more products for other neighborhoods. We spend a lot of time creating and looking over our designs and want to make a unique quality product that our neighbors feel proud to wear. This just takes time!
Please tell us about Neighborhood Supply Co.
We started with designing hats that are neighborhood specific here in Dallas. It is a simple yet creative way for people to “love thy neighborhood.” One of the best parts has been delivering our hats to the doorsteps of our neighbors and getting to meet and chat with them. It has been a joy because we’ve seen how much the people of Dallas want to unite in loving where they live. We currently sell hats for Lake Highlands, East Dallas and White Rock Lake. We are in production with Lakewood, Richardson and a few West Dallas neighborhoods. We are also creating shirts, bumper stickers and other quality goods for your Dallas neighborhood.
Practically, people are getting a quality product! But our aspirations for the company go well beyond that. We hope to create products and spaces that foster community and encourage people to “love thy neighborhood.”
