Meet Katie Del Rio of Arlington Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Del Rio

Hi Katie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been working in a tattoo shop since 2021, working the front counter. Which then later turned into becoming a body piercer. I was able to apprentice under an amazing body piercer who’s been in the industry for 30 years and gained a lot of valuable knowledge. Once I completed my apprenticeship I started working as the full time piercer at our Arlington location, which was our newest location that did not have a body piercer yet. Getting to pierce in Arlington has given me a lot of opportunities to meet a lot of amazing people from the community. Being a body piercer has given me a lot of creative freedom and I love coming to work everyday. I can’t wait to expand that soon and start offering tooth gems as a service!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any new journey there will definitely be bumps in the road. Even if you are working in an established studio, you as an individual have to start your business from the ground up. You have to learn to put yourself out there during the ups and downs and just keep pushing through the obstacles. You are your own everything and if you want to succeed you have to keep going. That has been the biggest lesson in my career, do not give up on yourself and give it your all and you will see success even in the small things.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
On a day to day basis I mostly do a lot of ear and nose piercings. I love when I get the walk ins for some of the more complicated piercings, those are always fun to do. One of my favorite piercings to do is an orbital. Its challenging but once you succeed the feeling of accomplishment is amazing. I’m most proud of pushing myself to do the piercings that scare me and always being open to learning new things. A job like this you will never stop learning, there is always something to gain from an experience.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was going to Germany for two weeks when I was younger. I got to go and visit my brother who was in the military at the time and explore a lot of Germany.
