Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Randle.
Katie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started wearing and picking vintage in my later years of high school, but didn’t get serious about selling vintage until almost a year ago. I played around on app called Depop for a little bit, moved on to Etsy, then got a huge jump start by selling at Favor The Kind (formally The Gypsy Wagon). After six successful months selling at FTK, I decided to venture out on my own. Rare Heart now can be found popping up at local events and markets all over the metroplex, one regular stop is at Doublewide, every second Sunday of the month, for their flea market.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
SOURCING!
I know what I want for my shop, but struggle on where to find certain items for a flipable price.
Self-motivation, balance, self-doubt, comparing, and creative block, are things I’m still trying to conquer as well.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Rare Heart Vintage runs by selling online via Etsy/Instagram and setting up at local events and markets. The shop specializes in vintage classics, staples, and statement pieces, but is most known for denim and t-shirts. Rare heart’s selection is eclectic but well curated. A One woman show. My years of styling play a large roll in the buying and photographing process.
What were you like growing up?
I was pretty outspoken growing up, a girls girl, a jokester, and always had an interest in fashion and music.
