Meet Katie Thedford of Bella Acento in Design District

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Thedford.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Bella Acento is the sister company to Bella Flora of Dallas, a premier luxury, full-service event design studio.

Owner Lucy Diaz-Flores, spent years carefully selecting one-of-a-kind pieces for her clients, creating a collection of beautiful pieces that were exclusively for Bella Brides. As time went on, and the collection grew, she realized that she had product that was not yet in the Dallas market, and people were truly interested in using our pieces. Lucy launched Bella Acento in 2014 offering stylish, full-service furniture rentals and custom luxury design services to the public!

Has it been a smooth road?
With every new business, comes “growing pains”. As your company grows, you have to work through adding new members to your team and finding that dynamic, ensuring the organization of the company flows well, making sure your clients are happy, and staying on top of our industry’s trends to make sure our inventory matches that. I personally see these obstacles as positive thing. We wouldn’t be facing these challenges if it didn’t mean that we were growing – each challenge has improved our operations in one way or another, and pushes us to do better.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bella Acento story. Tell us more about the business.
Bella Acento is an event rental and design company. We specialize in bringing in unique pieces to your event. From tabletop items, like china and glassware, to furniture pieces, like sofas, tables and chairs, all of our pieces contribute to the aesthetic of an event to create a “wow” factor. We pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our clients. We love creating custom pieces, thanks to our in-house design shop, and making sure we provide a white-glove service from start to finish.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think this side of the industry will just continue to grow. I think more and more clients are understanding the importance of adding soft seating to event, using specialty tabletop items, etc. to create a unique space for their guests. The industry is going to want to continue to see new pieces, and I truly think that the rental companies that are around now will be able to capitalize on that.
