Meet Kayla Enright

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Enright.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m a pretty eclectic photographer and only recently found my niche in this artistic world. I’ve had a passion for photography since I was 15 and have been pursuing this passion by learning as much as I possibly can ever since. I started shooting food randomly during a time when I was focusing my photography on people & portraits. I had a successful family & newborn photography business for the past few years, capturing such precious memories was an experience that allowed me to grow as a photographer in many valuable ways.

Photography was never a full-time job for me until a year ago and during my 12 years of honing my skills and business into what it is today, I worked in the restaurant industry in many different environments to pay for bills and sustain myself. I served, worked behind the bar, took calls, hosted, trained, and loved every bit of it. I’m an industry girl and being allowed to capture the essence and ambiance of each individual restaurant brings me back into that amazing and chaotic and harmonious world and I try to show that with my lens. I completely switched gears to food & hospitality photography two years ago, it’s been a wonderful transition full of mistakes, advancement & learning; I couldn’t be more thrilled to continue to grow and learn and head into my next project with excitement.

Has it been a smooth road?
Financially speaking, I certainly wish I wasn’t so cavalier with my credit when I was younger, something I am currently working on in order to obtain a small business loan that will significantly help grow my business into what it needs to become. My photography has always kind of been all over the place in terms of consistency until I realized that I didn’t want people to be the focus of my lens. I still struggle with food and have challenges of course, but I do feel my photography as a whole has improved since working with delicious subjects.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kayla Enright Photography – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a photographer specializing in restaurants and quite proud and honored to capture these spaces and show the rest of the world what these businesses have to offer along with their cuisine.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on and off for over 20 years and it has not stopped growing. It is a lucrative city and for the type of photography that I specialize in, my industry is doing well enough for me to continue to grow my business here before branching out elsewhere.
