This journey began quietly, in the middle of everyday life. As a homeschooling, homesteading mom, I found myself longing for a slower, more intentional way of living—one rooted in caring deeply for my family and being mindful of what we put on our bodies. I started learning about traditional skincare, natural/herbal ingredients, and the beauty of simplicity. Tallow became a turning point for me—it worked when nothing else did.
What began as small batches made at my kitchen counter for my own family soon turned into something more. Friends started asking for jars, then friends of friends. Each “Can you make me one too?” felt like gentle confirmation that I was on the right path. I kept learning, refining, and pouring my heart into every product.
Today, Whispering Willow Tallow Products is more than a business—it’s a reflection of my values: slow living, honesty, and nourishment in its truest form. Every product is still made with the same care, intention, and love as those first batches, created to support others on their own journey back to natural, simple care.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There were many moments of doubt, fear, and overwhelm—times when I questioned whether I was doing the right thing or if I should give up altogether. Learning as I went, making mistakes, and carrying the weight of running a business while being present for my family was exhausting at times. There were setbacks that felt personal, not just professional, and days when progress felt invisible.
But those hard moments forced me to dig deeper, trust myself, and stay rooted in why I started in the first place. Each struggle strengthened my resilience and reminded me that building something meaningful isn’t easy—but it is worth it.
