Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Stewart.
Hi Kayla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
In the thick of Covid as the world essentially closed down, my birthday was approaching. Due to the lack of available information regarding the spread of Covid-19 and apprehension of purchasing a cake, my dad suggested that I make my own birthday cake and design my very own apron. After creating my custom apron and making my vanilla cake, I was inspired! I watched every episode of 𝐶𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝐵𝑜𝑠𝑠 and started trying different recipes and baking techniques so I could expand my knowledge and experience in baking.
With the help of my parents, I decided to create my new business – K. Renee’ Sweet Treats. As the business owner, I am responsible for making baked goods from scratch, creativity, and marketing my business. My plan in the near future is to brighten the lives of other children by partnering with local shelters and organizations that serve under-resourced communities and provide sweet & tasty treats to them from K. Renee’ Sweet Treats. My long-term goal is to own my own successful franchised bakery and be a well-renowned baker.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, I’ve had challenges that allowed me to grow. I know that with growth comes greatness so a bump in the road every now and then is not necessarily a bad thing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a 13-year-old self-taught baker. I specialize in homemade sweet treats of all sorts. My favorite thing to make is custom cakes. I’m most proud of being a 13-year-old A honor roll student with a baking business. One thing that may set me apart from others is that I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my cakes. I want each cake to be perfect as if it was my own and make my customers happy so they become a repeat customer and share my business with others.
What was you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always been a perfectionist and a competitive person. I believe these two characteristics have allowed me to become the baker that I am today. I considered myself as an introvert, but meeting new people through my baking business has allowed me to open up more and become more confident. As a result, I guess I consider myself more of an ambivert, LOL.
