Today we’d like to introduce you to Keaton Jones.
Keaton, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Dorm Room Entertainment is a media company based in Dallas, Texas but ventures around St. Louis, Missouri as well. I started Dorm Room Entertainment during my Sophomore year of college at Lindenwood University after I took a class called “Video Production.” When I started DRE, I was starting off doing interviews for local artists around Dallas and St. Louis. I landed my first big interview with Matty Wood$ after only doing five interviews in St. Louis. Then I jumped from Matty Wood$ to Trevor Daniel, a recording artist from LA. Shortly after the interviews, I started doing music videos around the two cities as well. I landed a Lyrical Lemonade article after my second ever music video, and I landed many more after the more videos I put out. Shortly after, I decided to throw a show with my business, and I ended up selling out the first ever show I had. Now, I am doing interviews and music videos, and working still between both cities, hoping to be global soon.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a rocky but strong road. I have been through a lot of personal problems with my business, just being in school and trying to put out videos consistently, but I am getting better at it as the years go on.
Tell us more about the business.
My business is a video production company and also a media outlet that specializes in interviews, shows, and promotional videos. I am a videographer, promoter, and manager. I’m mainly known for videography and directing. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in a short time. And I think what sets me apart is my work ethic.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself being the next BET or Lyrical Lemonade. I wanna get into making a live reality TV show about college.
