Today we’d like to introduce you to Keishla De Jesus,
Thanks for sharing your story with us Keishla. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am from a little small island in the middle of the Carribean, called Puerto Rico. I moved to the United States with my younger siblings, when I was just 9 years old. During my first years in the states, I struggled tremendously due to the language barrier and change in the environment. Thankfully, my mother married a great man that taught me the values of life.
Growing up in the state of Texas was definitely a difference for me. Different Culture. Different believes. In the midst of it all, I found myself. My mother and father always encouraged me to follow my dreams and to finish what I set my mind to. With this, I was quickly enrolled in dance classes in which I competed with other kids my age. As my true passion was always to dance and my family believed in me they did everything in their power to ensure my success.
I remember that when I was younger my family even gave me the nickname of a famous Puerto Rican dancer. I thought this definitely was my calling and I vividly imagined myself as a backup dancer for famous celebrities. As an adult, I did everything to make my dream come true. I got the opportunity to be in Mo3 and Moneybagg Yo music video where I met the amazing Jeff Adair. I quickly began to gain the spotlight with the help of God, my family, and my great friend Victoria aka thegirlv. I still have a lot of growth and obstacles I need to overcome. However, that will not stop me from working on my end goal. If it’s one thing I’ve learned and will always cherish, is that no matter what life throws at you, it is never okay to give up. I’m following my dreams each day and by doing that and never detouring, I have accomplished so much. I am extremely thankful to my peers and God, for continuously aiding in my improvement. I don’t think I would’ve ever gotten this far if it wasn’t for the great support system I have!
Has it been a smooth road?
Reaching your dreams is never an easy road unless you just have things handed to you or your just Mr. perfect. My family wasn’t accepting or proud of some of the decisions I was making which caused me to have to go through some financial issues I was homeless and sold drugs for a while before I got into the clubs. Although I love being a dancer it can be a bit challenging because of some of the attention that can bring.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m a Video Vixen and a model. I’ve worked with Mo3, Moneybagg Yo, and Young Dolph to name a few. Even though I have a lot of work to do I’m proud of my financial stability and the amazing support system I currently have. I’m always true to myself and my origin.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe that in the next ten years we are definitely going to see more artist and creatives working together. We’re really going back to the old days just in a new era. So definitely more music, art, and obviously lots of criticism. Overall I believe artist and creatives are going to take over the game.
