Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Lewis.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Keith. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
TUPPS Brewery started in May of 2015 after 6 year of home brewing in the garage.
Tupper Patnode, my buddy and I, decided to take a leap of faith and open up a brewery here in McKinney, TX. My two sons and daughter quit their “real” jobs to join me in this adventure. Many of the original home-brew recipes are in the core lineup but we have expanded our recipes and can’t wait to continue to grow the business and make more great beer.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We got a very fast start by winning several top awards at North Texas brewers competitions including best in Show which helped expand distribution and sales. This led to canning our beer in mid-2016 and have recently expanded our market reach to Austin and San Antonio with great success! The challenge we face is keeping up with this rapid growth, We have had to acquire additional tanks and hire more production people. It’s been a fast and wild ride!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the TUPPS Brewery story. Tell us more about the business.
We specialize in American Craft Beer and there are no rules when it comes to our recipes. We are innovative and strive to improve quality and broaden our portfolio of products. We also have a vibrant taproom that has become a local hangout for families, friends and craft brew enthusiasts. In the taproom, you can listen to live music, sample all of our different craft beers and enjoy the unique decor. It’s a really neat space to visit and a space we are proud to call ours.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I always believe that the harder you work the luckier you get. We worked really hard to build a vibrant business and hard work has helped us overcome any setbacks. I also lucked into have three kids with different backgrounds that form the perfect mix for the business. My oldest son, Chase, is the head of the sales and finance. My middle son, Chris, is the head brewer, and my youngest daughter is in charge of the marketing and events. How did I get so lucky?
