Today we’d like to introduce you to Keithan Rayford.
Hi Keithan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised in the South, we are proud natives of Memphis, Tennessee. We are twins born just minutes apart, so naturally, we have always been inseparable!
From childhood, we have shared a creative genius. We excelled academically; graduating high school at fifteen and then Xavier University Pharmacy School at 21.
After pharmacy school, our careers took us to Jackson, MS for a short time before we relocated to Dallas, Texas in 2020.
Through our schooling, early careers, and fraternal days on the campus of Xavier, the plans for an embroidery service that gave shoppers creative control were discussed on and off.
Millions of professionals and social organizations require uniformity and, in our experiences, it was hard to find quality items with a quick delivery turnaround. It was one of those things we figured we could do ourselves and so we did!
In 2021 we bought an embroidery machine and it didn’t take long before orders starting rolling in. Since we launched the support has been nothing short of overwhelming! In one year, we embroidered over 1000’s items for customers.
Our clientele is rapidly growing and while we are both still pharmacists, we have no plans of slowing down Rayford & Rayford Embroidery services.
We are proud of Rayford & Rayford which started as simply a good idea. Its success is a testament of what happens when you take a leap of faith and “let your gifts make room for you.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As for all business owners, I think the road is never smooth at the beginning. For us, there was a major learning curve. It was a first time for us doing many things. We had never used an embroidery machine so even with training, experience is what really gets you comfortable with your machine. We had to figure out pricing for garments, how we would market ourselves, as well as what products we would sell. As we continue to work as embroiders the road will only continue to get smoother for us.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a custom embroidery company. You bring us a design and we print it. Right now, we are known for our embroidered portraits. We have a unique style that sets us apart while always maintaining the details you want and need. We focus on the uniqueness provided. Here at Rayford and Rayford Designs, you are the designer, and we will do whatever it takes to bring your vision to life.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The biggest lesson we’ve gained from the Covid – 19 pandemic is that you never know what the future will hold, so get out there and do what you enjoy while you can! We all have hobbies and passions, unfortunately, many of us never explore them. That may be due to finances or many of us who are afraid that it simply won’t succeed. That fear will stop you from exploring something you truly love to do. Don’t let that fear stop you!
