Meet Kellie Stolusky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Stolusky.

Hi Kellie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved antiques and working in Retail. My brother Doug and I started doing Estate Sales about 5 years ago for a couple of friends and family members and decided to continue doing that. Then we started collecting things and while we would go on trips with our spouses, we would buy things to sell. We started looking for antique malls to put our treasures in and they were too far from where we lived so we decided to open up one. We found a great building and bought it and before we even finished working on it, we had all the spaces filled.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part yes. We have had some issues with wanting to do certain things but city codes would not allow.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am not only the owner of The Mercantile on Grove but also a Vendor. I try my best to keep the Mercantile full of very creative and dedicated vendors who want to share their love for what they do. I am one of a group of store owners in our town who felt the need to revitalize our town square. We are all very passionate about Kaufman and the people who live here and we want to offer them the best that we can. I am very proud of the business that Doug and I have created and all of the people who are in the Mercantile and what they have to offer. We would not be able to continue without our vendors dedication to what they love and our loyal customers.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The thing that matters the most to me is my faith, my family, and what I can do for others. I was raised with a very strong work ethic, if you are going to do something do it right. My first job I ever had was at Daisy’s Dress Shop on our square and I worked for Billie Jane Rand she was a very strong business lady and I wanted that. She taught me to work hard have pride in what you do and treat the customer the way you want to be treated. Greet everyone with a smile and do the best you can.
