Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Garsee.
Kelly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been in love with cameras for as long as I can remember. I waited tables and bartended through high school and college, pursuing a career in Psychology because I knew I loved and wanted to help people. A few bad relationships and a whole lot of bad choices led me to re-evaluate what I wanted from life in my late 20’s. I sat down with a pen and paper, determined to discover what I wanted to be when I “grew up”. I couldn’t shake my passion for photography and my love of making people smile. I left the University life and enrolled at the Art Institute of Dallas in 2008. It wasn’t long before homework assignments were turning into clients and I was in the midst of starting my own business. I drew on my awesome customer service skills and put my creativity to work taking any and all jobs that came my way! Eight years later I have a thriving wedding and portrait photography business and I LOVE my job!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life if never a smooth road. But I believe every challenge and obstacle we face is a lesson to be learned. We are all human, I have insecurities and days where I fall flat on my face. There are times when I wonder if I work too much and don’t spend enough time with my family. I look at other photographers work and wonder if I am good enough. Then I get off my pitty pot and use those feelings to encourage myself to keep learning and keep rocking my sessions for my clients. Life isn’t easy, but it is beautiful. And I get to be there to capture the most beautiful moments of people’s life for them to cherish forever… how cool is that?

Kelly Garsee Photography is creative wedding and portrait photography for AWESOME people. I am known for the energy and fun that I bring with me wherever I go! I use my 20+ years of customer service experience to go above and beyond the expectations of a photographer. I love the unique differences in each situation I photograph and I enjoy finding ways to creatively express my client’s personalities through my images. I think as a business owner I most proud of the diversity in my clients. I am honored to be chosen out of so many wonderful photographers here in DFW to document the biggest moments of their lives. The differences between us as humans should not separate us. The color of skin, or religious preference does not matter. It is the love that we have for each other and the incredible life changing events that we share that makes my job so rewarding.

There is no doubt in my mind that I would not be where I am today without the love and continued support of my family, friends and clients. I have such amazing people in my life that cheer me on and support me in everything that I do.
