Meet Kelsey Murray of Magnolia Laine Bridal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Murray.

Hi Kelsey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for fashion began early in life, inspired by my mother, a talented costume designer. From a young age, she nurtured my creativity and taught me the fundamentals of design, fabric selection, and garment construction.

I later pursued a degree in Marketing and Management at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. Following graduation, I built a successful career in marketing—starting at an advertising agency and eventually founding my own marketing consulting firm. Over the course of 15 years in the industry, I honed my skills in brand strategy, client engagement, and business development.

Looking for a way to align my professional experience with my lifelong love of fashion, I discovered an opportunity in the bridal industry through a boutique franchise called Magnolia Laine Bridal, that had not yet been introduced to the Texas market. After connecting with their team, I was immediately drawn to their industry expertise, thoughtful growth, and commitment to creating meaningful and memorable experiences for each bride.

This opportunity led me to open Magnolia Laine Bridal in Historic Downtown McKinney on March 21, 2025—a space where my passions for fashion, entrepreneurship, and exceptional customer service come together.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Opening this store presented a number of challenges at every stage. While I brought passion and over a decade of professional experience to the table, this was my first time launching a brick-and-mortar location and working within a franchise model—both of which came with a learning curve.

From negotiating a commercial lease and selecting a contractor to overseeing a full build-out, the process was filled with first-time experiences. Reflecting on the journey, the greatest challenges often came from navigating the unknown and managing the unexpected.

However, early in my career I learned the importance of staying humble, surrounding myself with knowledgeable professionals, asking thoughtful questions, and clearly identifying my non-negotiables. These principles helped guide me through unfamiliar territory and ultimately contributed to a successful launch.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We moved to Dallas in 2018, and it’s been a great experience for our family ever since. What initially drew us here was the city’s strong reputation as a growing, business-friendly market—but what’s really made it feel like home is the people. I’ve been consistently impressed by the warmth, hospitality, and genuine sense of Texan pride. Even as Dallas continues to grow rapidly and attract people from all over the country, it still manages to maintain a close-knit, small-town feel—largely thanks to that uniquely Texan friendliness.

Having moved from Colorado, there are definitely things I miss—especially the access to year-round outdoor activities in the mountains. The natural beauty and cooler climate of Colorado offered a lifestyle that’s hard to replicate. Dallas has come with some challenges—particularly the summer heat, which can limit outdoor activities during the hotter months.

Still, despite the climate differences, we’ve found a lot to love here: a dynamic job market, great schools, and a vibrant, welcoming community. Dallas may not have the Rockies, but it has a rhythm, charm, and energy that continues to grow on us.
