Meet Kendall Myers of Kendall Nicole Studios in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Myers.

Kendall, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My background is in fine arts. I’ve been drawing and painting since before I could walk and in college, I took figure drawing and painting classes. After graduation, I found myself in an internship learning graphic design and began to assist a photographer friend. After a while of assisting, I started taking pictures of families to raise money for a mission trip and loved it. One day, a friend connected me to a wedding photographer and I never looked back. I spent a couple years second shooting, learning the job and growing my portfolio before taking on my own clients. I’ve been full time for almost two years now and looking forward to the couples I get to meet in the future.

Has it been a smooth road?
When I realized that photography was something I wanted to pursue, I made very intentional choices to let me focus as much time and energy as possible on learning the business. I cut as many expenses as possible, such as not having a car for a while, and lived below my means for a few years. The people that surrounded me were very supportive and I was able to live with a few generous families to help with rent before getting married myself. I had just enough to get by, but not much more. It wasn’t easy living on so little, but last year I made more in one year than I ever had worked full time. That’s when I knew that the sacrifices I made were worth it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kendall Nicole Studios – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a wedding and portrait photographer that captures candid moments and beautiful relationships. I’m known for making clients feel like friends and be comfortable in front of the camera. I love when a couple can be themselves and have fun. Authentic laughs are my favorite! Every person and relationship is unique so my job is to let everyone be themselves and capture that beauty.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve lived in North Texas all my life. There was a time when I was younger that I resented where I lived because I thought it was boring, but I had never gotten out and explored what my home had to offer. As a photographer, I have the opportunity to see so many unique parts of Dallas, Fort Worth, and all the cities in between. I love historic city squares with old brick buildings, faded murals, and antique shops. There are also so many nature preserves and hidden gems to be found here!
