Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenzie Hill.
Kenzie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am fascinated with fashion. Each person has their own unique style. During my high school years, I worked at a small business and was completely drawn to the atmosphere. One day, a man walked into the store to buy flowers. He did not have enough money to buy something nice for his mothers funeral. My boss had no idea I was watching but moments later she did not refuse to help him. She reached out her hand to help him. It was then that I realized business was more than business but also building that relationship with people. My boss taught me a valuable lesson that day. I pray to be able to impact future employees some day.
A few years later, my grandpa helped me start what was only a little side hobby. I began with only a few hundred dollars. I took what money I had and bought merchandise. What began as a small investment has grown to an online website, pop up, and with the purchase of a cargo trailer, a mobile fashion business. I have worked with various bloggers, vendors, and designers which have helped me tremendously develop my understanding in all areas of the fashion industry.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has definitely been an adventure so far. Even though I have enjoyed connecting, meeting new people and being able to work with influencers and designers I’d have to say the road as not been easy. I’ve navigated many bumps in the road. However, with every aspect of our lives disappoint prepares us for a greater purpose that is bigger, better and beyond our current location. Results don’t always come overnight. I have definitely struggled with the thought that no one will take me seriously because of my youth and lack of years of experience in the fashion industry. I have learned to celebrate small wins. I am forever thankful for the Lord’s blessing. Stay humble. Stay focused. And although there is a greater purpose for God and others, I have to remember that this is my life to be lived. I can’t pursue other peoples lives and neither can they pursue mine. One must keep the passion and drive alive in order to succeed.
What do you do? What do you specialize in?
“Fidèle” means “faithful” in French. We are online, do pop-ups and have recently purchased a cargo trailer to carry Fidèle mobile. Our style is classy & confident. I love a good dress pant but I also love to throw on a baseball cap and tennis shoes. We offer a variety of pieces to our customers. I do all things like buying at the market, emailing, social media and collaborating. I definitely have lots of help from my mother for which I am extremely grateful. She is a huge support. Fidèle may be a women’s clothing boutique but it is so much more. It is a platform creating opportunities to share Jesus Christ. I pray that everyone that comes into contact with us feels the love of Jesus and that’s the uniqueness of my business. I believe our society lacks uniqueness and individuality. I believe we are created with our own uniqueness and individuality. Fidèle provides that very thing.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I would say my drive. I believe I’m very driven and when I want something I go get it with everything I have. I might fail but I would much rather go for it than sit around wondering what if.
