Meet Ketra Richmond of Enough Today

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ketra Richmond.

Ketra, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
‘Enough Today’ was birthed in 2019 as a result of circumstances. Honestly, all credit goes to trauma, drama, anxiety, and stress for leading me to this exact point in life. I never thought I would be discussing my world from a Published Author and Non-profit Founder’s point of view. But I guess life just had a funny way of exposing my fullest potential.

I found myself at a point where I had to decide that enough was actually ENOUGH. I chose to turn my L’s into lessons and sought out to begin a legacy that could prevent others from traveling the same dangerous road that I’m blessed to say I finally conquered.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This ride has been insane! There were many points when I wanted to stop. Stop trying. Stop caring. Stop hoping. After my divorce in 2018, I was out here like Lil’ Duval, “living my best life”! But I didn’t have much of an opportunity to enjoy my new atmosphere and new relationship before the financial crisis and past trauma began to suffocate me. I guess the saying “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side” was pretty accurate for me.

Overwhelm and anxiety caused me to lose so much, and my past issues (combined with new boo’s issues) resulted in heartache. The saddest part was that I was left to deal with the wreckage of my life alone. During this time, my only real outlets were counseling and writing to release my feelings.

We’d love to hear more about your organization.
I have endured stressors that NO woman should ever have to face by herself. Throughout my journey, there were several times when I really wished I could call someone who would listen to me without passing judgment and help to provide resources with no strings attached. Unfortunately, I was never able to find that sort of support within a single group. But I promised myself that once I healed, I would create a safe haven to prevent the same cycle from continuing in the lives of others.

After years of counseling and journaling, I made it a point to understand the non-profit sector, which resulted in me founding and developing ‘Enough Today, Inc.’ I wanted to produce a program that would house an array of services under one roof for recipients. ‘Enough Today’ offers; 1×1 mentoring, dietary and lifestyle guidance, transitional guidance, resume enhancement, job referrals, style redesign via our exclusive career clothing boutique, and a step by step 12-week interactive confidence-building program.

The lessons from this course have also been made public via my published book “Shell of A WOMAN… A Journey To Heal My Broken Pieces.” It was important for me to make these lessons available to the world because of the value they add to all those attempting to cope and win in life.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma. A small country town and was such a tomboy! As the oldest of three girls, I kind of made it my mission to become my daddy’s sidekick and would always ride his coattails. If he was leaving the house, so was I. If he was going fishing, I was there. If he was heading to the body shop to paint, I was trying to grab a paint can too. I was a daddy’s girl from birth!

My two favorite female artists were Shelia E. (I kept “Holly Rock” on repeat) and Janet (Ms. Jackson If Ya Nasty)! I was also extremely resourceful, creative, empathetic, and chatty. I would say I retained many of these attributes well into adulthood. I have always had a deep love for writing and used it as my voice when I was unable to speak aloud, especially throughout my adolescent years.
