Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Martin.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
This all started 2017 because anything I liked far as shirts didn’t fit right or way out of my budget. I found that the t-shirts that fit me best was blank shirts. Well as we know white tees are frowned upon here in Dallas especially to get in most spots so I went to someone who had a line told them what I wanted on it. Really never planned to make it a brand til I saw the reactions from people and not just our people, everybody, lol people walking up laughing and telling stories on how they feel they are childish adults. In my mind, I’m like this is like having a puppy on my chest people smiling and speaking lol (maybe they thought I was Wayne Brady ) so I trademarked it and put together a plan to market it to everybody.
How I managed to keep it going was keeping it simple and relatable to things that the moment you saw it, it brought you back to something in your life that made you smile, the name childish adult, the logos there is a crossword puzzle, tic tac toe, puzzle pieces, lips, barcodes logos, etc and I decided well I’m not gonna style nobody ill let people pick the color shirt, color logo and the style of apparel that fit their childish adult so everything is print to order / custom.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been smooth and shocking I knew coming in I was gonna deal with people and money at the same time I was prepared to see different ways people can be so I knew to blow off any type of negative encounters and focus on the positive feedback I would get. Sticking to that this has been fun as hell. Not only do I do my own line I also make a thing for other brands and cross-brand with them. the part people would take as the struggle I flipped it to a teachable moment for myself and others. I’m launching a marketing and branding company that benefits people who don’t have a big financial backing, who don’t have the resources to get there ideas and brands going, so I’m thankful for any struggles.
The biggest struggle was finding my lane but that ended quickly
So, as you know, we’re impressed with CHILDISH ADULT – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
CHILDISH ADULT – adults who handle their responsibilities and enjoy life.
Its made to show the fun and creative side of the apparel business but mostly know for the name. But its an umbrella for many things. This brand can fit in any market so I plan on going through every open door and window.
Apparel, LLC and trademarking for other brands, events, marketing, income taxes (yes I have a tax business as well), etc.
I’m known for being the fun guy lol.
I’m proud that as a company I can make peoples day from something as simple as a t-shirt customer and business relationship is key because I need them they don’t need me there are plenty of people that does exactly what I do probably better but what sets me apart from some is I’m interested in what they want more than what they are willing to pay for and people love getting what they want plus some
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Just to keep growing adding to brand with new things.
Networking and working with other people including other clothing brands.
Building a foundation that will last a very long time.
