Meet Kevin Wells of Fresh Fuzion Catering in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Wells.

Kevin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my culinary journey from humble beginnings as a Culinary Specialist in the Navy. My passion for cooking grew beyond the confinements of the military restricted menus, so after 13 years of honorable service, I decided not to re-enlist in order to pursue my dreams of becoming a Chef.

While attending culinary school I worked as a personal chef perfecting my craft. I’ve had the wonderful opportunities of working as a personal chef to NFL clients, co-owning a food truck, and assist with opening up a top tier restaurant in Chicago. I decided to open Fresh Fuzion Catering because catering allows me to reach a wider audience and provide delicious food without placing limits on my culinary artistry. We offer a variety of cuisines and flavorful fusions for our clients to enjoy.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but it has definitely been well worth it. Some of the biggest struggles have establishing clientele, promoting and marketing in a saturated market, and financing the business.

We also provide delicious meal prep delivery service for the health-conscious or those seeking to change their diets. Working with local farmers, market vendors, and butchers, we provide fresh locally produced ingredients in every meal. Our southern peach cobbler and unique rotating meal prep menu are what we’re best known for.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most about our city is the diversity. There are so many different cultures throughout the metroplex which makes the entire DFW an amazing culinary hot spot!

I would have to say the public transportation system is what I like least about the city. Being from Chicago, the “L” train took you everywhere so you really didn’t need to have a car. Here everything is so spread out and with the city having a lot to offer, in order to appreciate it all, you need a vehicle.
