Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiesha Coleman.
Kiesha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a child of a single parent, at the age of 12, I found myself self-teaching the art of hair braiding. By 13, I was an expert braider with skills to enhance the beauty of my peers. By 16, I was exceptional at my craft. Life through some curves at me but I preserved. After the birth of my daughter, the desire to succeed rooted in me deep. I then went to cosmetology school and graduated to walk within my destiny. I created Gorgeous Styles Kids Instructional Braiding Class to offer an opportunity to the little girls who want to challenge themselves, learn something new, and perfect their craft or hobby.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road hasn’t been easy. I’m a firm believer that God makes deep roots stronger. After the death of my long time boyfriend and grandfather, I struggled emotionally but it motivated me and lit a fire for my passion in an effort to make them smile down on me and make them proud.

My company specializes in instructing young ladies with the tools that they need to become an expert and professional braiders. I was the first stylist in the DFW metroplex to market and successfully introduced this idea to the braiding market. I’m most proud that each young lady and their parents are satisfied with the service and a new skill is learned or enhanced.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me, is defined by the increasing amount of attendance at each class. Success in my book, is having a waiting list of attendees.
