Meet Kim Nobles and Edderick Stewart of Issa Black Thang in Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Nobles and Edderick Stewart.

Kim and Edderick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Gathering with friends and family is a major part of our lives. Game nights are a common thing for us. When selecting new games for game night, it was challenging to find a game we could relate to as African Americans. Bringing entertainment back into homes was our goal. From here, Issa Black Thang was birthed. My husband and I worked very diligently (a lot of sleepless nights) to create something for our culture. This hilarious charades game revisits favorite past times, movies, music, known sayings and much more!!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success has been a bit bumpy but oh so worth it! It’s challenging to center the game around one culture when we all are raised so differently. Example: Could African Americans in the South relate to the same music of the individuals raised up North or on the East & West Coast.

We’d love to hear more about Issa Black Thang.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Practicing resilience, being receptive to feedback, and most importantly, putting God first are the reasons for our success.
