Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Taylor.
Kim, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Married 31 years to my high school sweetheart, Gordon,
Mother of four children and one daughter in law, Connor and Brittany, Patrick, Philip and Abigail. I was a stay at home mom who home schooled my kids for nine years.
While schooling the kids, I was decorating, staging and painting for clients and always thought Real Estate (RE) would go hand in hand, but was afraid it would take up too much family time so fear held me back…. I then partnered with a friend and we owned Design Intervention, a company where we assisted churches with themes in their children’s departments. My creative side was flowing and I loved it! When we put the kids in public school in 2009, I took my first full time job at my husbands oil and gas company. I worked there until we both started noticing closed door meetings around November 2015, so he suggested I go to Champion School of RE to get my license. And I am so glad I did! We both lost our job in December so I jumped into RE full force, being the bread winner of the family and selling $3.5 Million my first year!
Fast forward four years….I just started my team a few weeks ago! Kim Taylor Real Estate Group, or KTREG, powered by JP & Associates REALTORS® out of Frisco. My husband has since joined me as our Transaction Coordinator and my assistant, while still keeping his full time Petroleum Landman job. I have three other amazing team members….really looking forward to what 2020 holds!!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Very smooth road…I stepped into my destiny when I started RE. I felt like I had been doing it for years! Is it easy? NO. Dealing with people can be very challenging at times, but the reward of helping clients out weighs it all!
We’d love to hear more about your business.
In year three, I kind of hit a plateau mentally in my business. Being a top producer at my small brokerage and dealing with some personal challenges, I just needed a change.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I grew up on a beautiful hill where my parents built our home. You could see four towns surrounding us. The memories and joy of still going back home are amazing.
