Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Collins.
Hi Kimberly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started “All About Mommie” in November of 2020. The idea came to me when a friend of mine was expecting, and I wanted to give her a gift that was just for her. So, after some research on postpartum, I put together a care package for her with things I felt would help her recover. She loved it and it made me feel great knowing I was able to provide her with some relief and comfort.
While I was putting together her care package, I was having to go to a few different places to get everything and that’s when a light bulb went off in my head. I thought to myself, why don’t I look into creating care packages with most of the necessities a mother needs during her postpartum journey, to give her the convenience of having what she needs all in one cute basket? So, that is how “All About Mommie” was created.
Today, I offer seven different care packages to choose from. Everyone who does business with me has been satisfied and it is just an amazing feeling overall. I am excited about what the future holds.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been the smoothest road lol, in the first year I only sold one kit and it was to a friend. I do believe my lack of promotion, interaction on social media & networking played a part. Today, I am now on every social media platform to really get the word out about my business, and it has paid off. My dad always told me you get out, what you put in. With that being said I am putting everything I have into making this a successful business.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
After about 5 years of being a Pharmacy Tech, I decided to switch gears and actually start doing what I have a passion for. This included dedicating more time and effort to my business. Also, I chose to go back to school to finally finish my nursing degree lol (better late than never). My long-term goal is to be a Labor & Delivery Nurse and a Postpartum Doula. For now, I just secured a job as a Patient Care Tech in the postpartum department at a local hospital. I feel everything is working itself out and what’s for me will be.
I am most known for my compassion for others, I always treat people how I want to be treated regardless of how they may treat me. I think I have a very dope personality; I never meet a stranger my mom says. I am like the best friend you didn’t know you needed.
I feel what sets me apart from others is that I finally stopped looking at my mistakes in life as a bad thing and started to learn from them to make me a better person in the end.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have to give my flowers to my family and friends; they all have been so supportive of everything I have set out to accomplish in life. Not sure where I would be without their love, support, and words of encouragement when I need it most. They are my everything for real. Love them to pieces.
