Meet Kioko Beasley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kioko Beasley.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Hi, my name is Kioko, but I go by Yoki. I started out as a kid drawing sketches of models wearing clothes I designed and sitting in our front yard tree drawing the neighbors houses and whatever my mind could come up with. Art has always been an outlet for me to express my feelings or thoughts the most healthiest way I could. Becoming a mom at 15, I knew life would have a dramatic change from then. I started tattooing in 2012 with the push from a good friend who allowed me to “practice” on him lol. I now specialize in black & grey, geometrical & any fine detail tattoo work. Along with tattooing, I also create canvas art as another source of income. Becoming a tattoo artist has not only brought many great opportunities like working alongside the Ladies Of Ink crew while we travel the country every year, but it has helped me mentally with my anxiety. I love being able to create a piece of art for someone else to live with for the rest of their lives!

Please tell us about your art.
I create amazing tattoos & art as well as piercing anything I can think of. I love being able to do this to help people when they are in need. I feel like somewhat a therapist in a tattooist way because a lot of times I have clients who have loved ones pass or even a newborn that just wants a memory to stick with them for forever. I hope to bring inspiration to the women in this male-dominated industry or any industry of the matter so they know that they can do it as long as they work hard for it. My artwork will always have a meaning behind it, so I hope you guys enjoy.

Besides the tattoo industry, I also co-own Debonaire Hair Extensions which is an extension company that has been growing for a little over a year now.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
It takes money to make it. Never think “I’ll never make it” due to financial issues because if there’s a will, there’s a way.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I mainly post everything via social media.

Instagram: @teamyokitatts would be the main source to view tattoos, piercings, and artwork.

For the hair, it would be Instagram as well: @debonairehairext
