Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirstin Green.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kirstin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I began supervised babysitting when I was twelve years old and as I got older I started working as a teacher at different daycare centers and eventually began nannying. Once I built up a clientele of around 10 families, I realized I had over extended myself and I wasn’t able to be everywhere at once. I made the decision to create a business that would allow me to hire employees who love working with children just as much as I do and then I could send them out on those babysitting jobs that I could not work myself. Once I set my plan into action, the business took off from there and I started researching other companies like mine within Dallas and I realized that most childcare companies are only offering either babysitter services or nanny services and none of them offer multiple childcare services. I decided to incorporate different services for my business to offer based on every childcare job I’ve had in the past which includes babysitting, nannying, working as a preschool teacher, working as a transportation provider for children, and working with children at different events and providing fun activities to keep them occupied.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not a smooth road at all and it actually took me about four years to get the business to take off. There were a lot of setbacks and one of the major setbacks was financing to get the company started. I had to do a lot of research in order to get going as well. I knew everything about taking care of children but I had no idea how to build a business or run one. I spent a lot of time reading books, researching information online and I even took on jobs at daycare centers to observe the owners, directors and staff members to gain a better understanding of every person’s role within the company. I had to learn HR responsibilities, marketing strategies and the laws and regulations that go into owning a business and managing employees.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Kirstin’s Care is a childcare service company and we provide babysitters, nannies, preschool teachers, and childcare staff for on-site events. We specialize in providing childcare personnel for families and companies/organizations. As a company, I am most proud of our loving and dedicated employees which is truly the heart and soul of this company. Kirstin’s Care has really created an innovative way to find private childcare for families and I haven’t found another company anywhere that does what we do.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been quiet even as a kid. I am very family oriented and only have a few close friends. I love to laugh joke and have fun with the people I love. I’ve always been a nurturer even as a child I remember I wanted to grow up to become a mommy. I’ve always been very observant, I remember watching people for hours like my mom, aunts and grandparents just to see what they did and how they did it and I would always challenge myself to try to do what they were doing but find a better way of doing it.
