Today we’d like to introduce you to Korey Davis.
Korey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Professional Marketing Executive & Photographer with over 7 years of experience in Technology, Health, Sports, and Fitness Industry. When I joined Mission Fit Fitness in the August 2017, I partnered with the CEO’s dream of providing content, advertising and branding to Fitness and encourage individuals to seek a healthier lifestyle.
I received my first camera around 13 years old that was a Kodak camera that my mother bought for me and that’s where my interest in photography took off. I was always intrigued by capturing moments of family, friends, nature, and anything around me. a couple of years later, I bought another camera and continued to increase my knowledge of how they work ( ISO, Shutter, creative modes), but I continued to shoot in automatic. I wanted to learn more, I wanted to take complete control of all the functions of my camera, so I began researching the web, watching YouTube tutorials and began to perfect “Manual & Aperture Priority Mode.” That’s when I fully took control of my camera and began “capturing moments that last forever!”
I am current Director of Sales & Marketing for an Artificial Intelligence company in Austin, Texas, where I started professional photography business “Light Designs Media” in which I capture celebrities, sports athletes, families, children, nature, corporate events, and professional headshots. I always have my camera with me and ready to hit the shutter button to capture the moment. I am often in Dallas, Texas with my business partner James Fisher Jr., CEO of Mission Fit Fitness.
I attended the University of Texas at Austin and studied Economics.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Photography has not been easy, especially with technology evolving each and every week. The world of cameras is also changing. With the development of cellular phones being able to produce high-quality images, makes it difficult for photographers to continue to build clientele.
With the development of new camera systems, higher megapixels, better quality lenses, also keeping up with the trends in photography makes it difficult. Now, anyone can buy a camera, take pictures, and define themselves as professional photographers. However, it is more of creating a moment, catching a moment with the click of a button. You have to understand each component of your camera, the settings, lightings, and exactly what it is you are trying to create with a photo.
Light Designs Media – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Light Designs Media is dedicated to capturing memorable moments that happen at a particular time and once it passes you cannot recreate the moment. We enjoy capturing candid moments of families before the actual photo shoot begins, children playing, graduation celebrations, individuals instructing a fitness class and promoting healthy lifestyles.
I am proud of being able to provide each and every customer their vision they envisioned prior to the photo shoot. We always speak to our clients beforehand to understand what type of photos they are wanting to create and capture.
We love to interact with our clients while we are actively taking pictures. We love asking questions pertaining to the specific type of shoot we are doing.
What motivates you to continue to be healthy and promote this lifestyle? What do you love about each other? What are you going to school for when you start college? These are the questions that help us get to know our clients and breaks down the “cool walls” or helps with the shyness.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is being able to spend all day taking photographs of people, nature, buildings and being able to review them at the end of the day and it brings smiles to your face. Knowing that each day you wake up, you are creating a memory for someone else to cherish and remember. Knowing that you have finally put all the pieces of your puzzle together and now you can teach someone else how to solve their puzzle is how I define success.
