Today we’d like to introduce you to Kourtlynd Torres.
Kourtlynd, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I came up with the idea while I was at work. I was stocking shelves for Dr. Pepper and I was wondering what I could do on my own to leave my mark on the world. I played with the idea in my head and ended up drawing the logo that night and ever since then, I’ve been trying to create pieces that stole the person who was looking’s attention.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course, I’ve had struggles, I’m a perfectionist and if something goes slightly wrong I look at it as a failure, but I never took the failures to heart because it made me more refined and let me know how I need to convey my message to get the desired results. But one failure I felt like was a failure but turned out to be one of the people’s favorite design was the first shirt that I came out with that had the panda face huge on it. The shirt was intended to be in the center of the chest but it was printed so huge, I hated it! But I sold it because I had spent so much to create I couldn’t wait any longer to put it out. But the response was all love.
Too Suave Clothing Company – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Well, my business is clothing. For the most part, we specialize in apparel but I do have other avenues I would like to explore with my progression. We are known for the panda logo with a bowtie, people love it. And I think that as a company we are most proud of the reception I love seeing when people wear our clothes and I see them embrace the quality and see them take pictures in it I enjoy it.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
That’s a hard question, I feel like my gauge for success would be constant progression. Not trying to offend anyone but I don’t want the company to stop at tees and sweaters. I want to be a part of the fashion industry, I want to have jeans and other products that set us fully apart from anyone. So, I guess success for me would be owning a warehouse and material to create whatever product I desire.
