Krista, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started doing nails at the age of 17! I had originally planned on doing nails to help get me through college but had been unexpectedly blessed sooner than later. I nailed a job at the top of the list at the relache spa in the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine TX! The relache spa is best known for a high end spa and for them to ask me to join their team at only the age of 17 was unheard of! They generally require a three year experience or more but the director saw something in me that she thought would be workable. I have been at the Gaylord for nine years now, but on the New Year of 2019, I decided I wanted to make a change. I
wanted to grow. That is when I decided to build my own business. I wanted to provide my existing and new clients with an independent private spa experience at a more affordable price. Most of the guest I got at the Gaylord were people coming to celebrate a special occasion or just passing through on a work conference. There weren’t many “regular” clients since it was a high end facility. The number one thing I heard complaints about from these clients when they commented on their experience from the quick affordable nail salons was that they felt rushed and weren’t able to relax. I heard their voices and knew what they wanted. This is why I have created my salon with the intention of only having myself as an individual provider to give my clients the privacy they want so they will feel relaxed. I have also created my services on a scheduled basis to give each individual their own time without a rushed feeling. I understand that manicures and pedicures are a hygienic necessity but who says you can’t be pampered also?
Has it been a smooth road?
It was a very scary and bold process making the decision of leaving my comfort zone for nine years. The comfort zone where I grew up, learned what I knew, and had a routine set day today. Like every business owner, you start with the fear of your investment not working out. You wonder if you should have stayed in the “safe zone” of another employer. I couldn’t have done it without the support of my loved ones and my team at the relache spa!

Southern chic nails allow each client to relax with their own scheduled private room. I as the owner and provider specialize in spa pedicures. The spa pedicures that are provided at my salon are skill originated from high end spas priced at a more affordable price. I use products that are used at these spas. They are up to 99% natural and are also provided as a retail product so guests can extend their service to the comfort of their home. Farmhouse Fresh Goods is a company I have fallen in love with for their care to rescued animals as well as their farmhouse theme. Their farmhouse theme fits perfectly with my salon’s southern charm theme as well! Today, country style is coming back to life! Which is my absolute favorite! This is why my company separates from other nail salons. Instead of the modern elegant look, I wanted my guest to come feeling welcomed comfy and cozy! I wanted my guests to feel welcome!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Fort Worth! My home hometown! I have ventured off to other cities like Dallas and nothing will ever feel like Fort Worth. The humble southern charm feeling you get from the people here. It’s still the same! Just the calming homey feeling is what I love the most about it!
