Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Brandon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kristin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Since I was young, I’ve had a passion for culinary arts and have always loved the way food can be a form of artistic expression. After becoming a mother, I knew I needed a creative outlet that could provide income for my family while I stayed home with my children. I contemplated many options but it wasn’t until several people told me I should start a bakery that I really saw how baking could feed both the creative and perfectionist sides of my personality! I jumped in with both feet, baking for friends and family, all the while learning and practicing new skills. I quickly began to reach clients I didn’t know and start baking for all kinds of parties and weddings. Baking was the perfect fit for myself and my family. I am able to see a childhood passion become reality, all the while providing customized cakes and treats for all types of occasions! Over the course of the last couple of years, KB Cakery has become a beautiful business in which we are able to engage with our clients to design their perfect cake, give other stay at home moms the opportunity to generate income for their families, and it has served as a ministry by providing baked goods for several local charities. It has been an exciting and humbling journey!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Owning your own business is never truly a smooth road but it is the rough path that develops the most perseverance! It has been a challenging learning how to be baker, wife to an entrepreneur husband and a mom who homeschools her children. At first, baking took hours upon hours and it was a difficult balance. However, like beginning any business, the hard work pays off and suddenly things find their groove and it becomes easier. Learning to juggle it all has been a challenge but I am beginning to see the fruits of all the hard labor.

KB Cakery is a local bakery that specializes in customized cakes and various treats for parties and weddings. We provide personalized service which allows our clients to design and create the perfect treat, whether that is designing a cake from your child’s imagination or creating an elegant and modern wedding cake. Having a connection with our clients is of utmost importance and we strive to design cakes and treats to match our client’s vision. Customization and personalization is what allows our company to be unique and delicious cakes and buttercream are our specialty!
What were you like growing up?
My dad is a pilot, so growing up, I was always traveling to and living in different places around the world. I have always had a sense of adventure and being outgoing as allowed me to have some amazing experiences! Art, music and travel led me to do high school online so, I could spend the majority of my time as a worship leader in my local church and traveling with my family. My desire for adventure has never died out and my family still loves to travel!
