Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Mullen.
Kristin, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My degree is in Communications with a minor in PR from Midwestern State University. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my degree until my Junior year when I did an internship with the Make A Wish Foundation of North Texas (I am a Chi Omega and that is our philanthropy). While at my internship (on the development side) I learned of my passion for event planning. Once I graduated, I took a job as the “Private Event Coordinator” at a local country club. That is where I discovered my love for weddings and helping brides (and their family/friends) plan their big day. After a year and a half at the club, I took a leap of faith and started Events by Kristin. This October we will be 6 years old!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been easy but I will say it has always been worth it. Work/life balance (if there is even such a thing) has probably been the biggest struggle, especially early on. It is hard to know when to turn off work or when to take a much needed vacation.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Events by Kristin story. Tell us more about the business.
Events By Kristin provides unique and exceptional wedding & event planning.
From extravagant weddings to small backyard affairs, we treat each event with the same attention and dedication as if it were our very own. We make it our responsibility to carry out your wishes exactly as you’ve anticipated, down to the very last detail. Through the entire planning process, we pride ourselves on being great listeners and really understanding the vision you are trying to achieve.
Our Mission is to make the planning process smooth, stress-free and most of all FUN!
Something I am most proud of us that we have been able to build a successful business without any advertising. This business has grown and survived off of relationships and word of mouth recommendations.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Trends will continue to change every year which we love because it keeps it interesting and unique. From colors, to textures to themes we love to see what new ideas brides choose to embrace.
