Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Lea.
Hi Kristy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began with a heart for serving people and bringing meaningful visions to life. Over the years, I built a strong professional foundation in commercial real estate, business management, accounting, human resources, and nonprofit leadership. After spending more than 16 years in commercial real estate, I followed my passion into residential real estate and launched Kristy Lea Properties, where I now help individuals and families buy, sell, lease, and invest throughout North Texas.
Service has always been at the center of everything I do. As Executive Director of Beyond the Walls Outreach, I have helped organize community events that provide families with school supplies, free haircuts, health services, food, and other essential resources. I am also a Certified Event Planner, an ordained evangelist, and a wedding officiant who loves creating personalized experiences that reflect each couple’s unique love story.
My path has not been one straight line, it has been a collection of purpose-filled experiences that prepared me for where I am today. Whether I am opening the door to a new home, coordinating a memorable event, officiating a wedding, or serving families in my community, my mission remains the same: to use my experience, faith, and gifts to help people move confidently into their next chapter.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape the woman and leader I am today. One of my greatest struggles has been balancing the many roles I carry, as a mother, businesswoman, Realtor®, nonprofit executive director, minister, event planner, and wedding officiant. Each role requires time, energy, and dedication, and I have had to learn that I cannot pour into others without also making time to replenish myself.
Transitioning from a long career in commercial real estate into entrepreneurship and residential real estate also required courage. I had to build my brand, establish new relationships, and learn how to remain consistent even when results did not come as quickly as I hoped. Like many entrepreneurs, I have experienced financial pressure, unexpected setbacks, closed doors, and moments when I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction.
Leading a nonprofit has brought its own challenges. The needs within the community are often greater than the available funding and resources. There have been times when I had to ask for support repeatedly, stretch limited resources, and trust that the right sponsors, volunteers, and partners would come together.
Through it all, my faith has kept me grounded. The difficult seasons taught me resilience, patience, resourcefulness, and the importance of continuing to serve even when the journey feels uncertain. I have learned that a setback does not mean the vision is over, it may simply mean I need to adjust, grow, and keep moving forward.

My work is centered around helping people move confidently into the next chapter of their lives, whether that means purchasing a home, selling a property, planning a meaningful celebration, or receiving support during a difficult season.
Through Kristy Lea Properties, brokered by eXp Realty, I assist buyers, sellers, renters, and investors throughout North Texas. I specialize in providing hands-on guidance from beginning to end, particularly for first-time homebuyers and individuals who may not know where to begin. I connect clients with trusted lenders, help them understand the process, identify the right property, negotiate on their behalf, and guide them all the way to the closing table. My philosophy is simple: “I’m not here to close deals. I’m here to put the keys in your hands.”
I am also a Certified Event Planner and wedding officiant. I specialize in personalized wedding ceremonies that go beyond a traditional script. I take time to learn each couple’s love story and create a ceremony that reflects their personalities, values, faith, and journey together. My goal is for every couple to feel seen, celebrated, and fully present during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.
Beyond the Walls Outreach is the service arm of my purpose. As Executive Director of this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, I help develop programs and community events that connect children and families with practical resources. Through partnerships with local businesses, law enforcement, volunteers, churches, and community organizations, we provide school supplies, free haircuts, health services, food, family activities, and other forms of support.
What sets my brands apart is that they are built on relationships, service, and genuine care. I do not believe in treating people like transactions or numbers. I listen, educate, advocate, and remain involved throughout the entire experience. My background in commercial real estate, nonprofit leadership, ministry, and event planning allows me to bring organization, compassion, professionalism, and creativity to everything I do.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that people associate the name Kristy Lea with someone who shows up, brings people together, and gets things done. I want readers to know that my work is bigger than real estate, events, or community programs, it is about opening doors, creating meaningful experiences, and helping people believe that their next chapter is possible.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My view on risk-taking is that it is less about being fearless and more about being intentional. I don’t see risk as something to avoid, but rather something to evaluate carefully, pray through, and step into when the purpose is clear. For me, the biggest question is not “Is this risky?” but “Is this aligned with my calling, my values, and the impact I want to make?”
In my work, I take calculated risks every day especially in real estate and entrepreneurship. Choosing to build a business in a competitive and ever-changing market required stepping away from the comfort of predictability and into full responsibility for outcomes, growth, and uncertainty. There is no guaranteed income, no fixed path, and no certainty of results. That alone is a form of risk that requires faith, discipline, and consistency.
One of the most significant risks I’ve taken was stepping fully into entrepreneurship and expanding my work beyond a traditional career structure. Building Kristy Lea Properties meant trusting my ability to create opportunities rather than waiting for them. It meant investing in myself, my education, my branding, and my relationships without knowing exactly how quickly things would grow. It also meant learning to navigate rejection, market shifts, and seasons of uncertainty while still showing up for clients who depend on me during one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.
Another meaningful risk has been expanding into nonprofit leadership through Beyond the Walls Outreach. Nonprofit work requires a different kind of vulnerability, asking for support, building partnerships, and believing that others will see and invest in the vision. It also means taking on responsibility for community needs that are often complex and deeply personal. I had to learn to trust that if the mission was right, the resources and people needed would come together over time.
Even in my work as a wedding officiant and event planner, there is a level of emotional risk involved. I am invited into some of the most intimate and meaningful moments in people’s lives. That requires trust, presence, and the willingness to show up fully for others in high-stakes emotional environments.
Overall, I would describe myself as a thoughtful risk-taker. I don’t take risks impulsively, but I do not allow fear to make decisions for me. I believe growth, purpose, and impact all require a willingness to step into the unknown with preparation, faith, and a strong sense of responsibility. For me, the greatest rewards in life and business have always come on the other side of saying yes to the risks that aligned with my purpose.
