Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal King.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Krystal. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
In 2010, I was really frustrated with my full-time job. I was, still am, a dental hygienist.
At the time I was thinking, there has to be more to me than cleaning teeth. I am a creative soul, so I was looking for an outlet. As a kid and teenager, I was always into art, so it was only natural that I found love in makeup artistry. One of my best friends said to me one day, you should be a makeup artist because you’re good at it, so I began my journey.
I started learning, I took a private class from a local makeup artist, and I practiced and practiced. I started Charm Makeup Artistry LLC in 2011. I began doing weddings, photo shoots, and makeup for special occasions. I was also hired at MAC Cosmetics, which was so much fun! I definitely learned a lot working there, from sales to makeup skills.
In 2016, I started a line of false lashes called “Lashes By Charm.” Lashes by Charm is an exclusive faux lash line with signature 3D silk lashes. I love lashes so much it’s really my favorite part of makeup. My love for lashes, makeup, and skin lead me to esthetician school. I recently graduated last year and have begun my business now known as Charm Beauty.
Charm Beauty embodies all of my services- facials, lash extensions, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion, just to name a few. My esthetics suite space is located in Richardson, TX. I am so excited to offer more services to my clients and seeing all of the wonderful results. This has been a goal for many years, and I’m only just beginning (again lol)!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This question made me take a deep sigh lol. It has not been an easy road! There were times when I wanted to give up! For example, I let my full-time job get in the way of me pushing for my passion. I used to tell myself every day I clocked out of my 9-5, I was going home to clock into Charm Makeup Artistry, and it was grind time.
I needed to give my own business just as much time and effort as my 9-5. Sometimes it’s easy to get sidetracked or even lazy when trying to work on you’re own business, especially when you’re already working for someone else.
Another obstacle has been sharing my dreams with others that didn’t believe in me. If you aren’t passionate and/wise enough, other peoples pessimistic words and lack of support can wear on you and make you want to give up. I had to decide that I am doing this for me and my clientele, not for anyone else.
Finances were also a stumbling block. Investing in your passion isn’t cheap, especially going back to school and even buying supplies. There are definitely some sacrifices you have to make!

Charm Beauty provides professional esthetics services such as facials, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning, makeup application, and even makeup classes.
Although I offer many services (that can be viewed on my website). I’m known for lash extensions and makeup artistry. I am most proud of Charm Beauty for expanding the services offered! Per my customer reviews, I think Charm Beauty stands apart from others through attention to detail, attentiveness, and welcoming personality.
I pride myself on being well educated and having the skill set to provide my clientele with the best services. I am continuously looking forward and staying on top of trends and the latest in the beauty world.
What were you like growing up?
I was an active, creative kid! I loved to do arts and crafts, paint, sing, be in school shows. I loved to create! I was voted “most outgoing” my senior year of high school, in which I think they got that mixed up with “most going out” lol because I was at every school function (and party for that matter lol).
My mom let me be creative, I remember she bought me a Bob Ross painting kit when I was young, I was so excited! My personality is very goofy, to say the least, I love to laugh! I think that brings a certain vibe to my business.
My customers get to know me and realize who I am, they find out that Charm Beauty is all about making others happy!
