Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Lance Martin.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kyle Lance. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion to bring personal and community awakening to the nation began during my undergraduate studies at Taylor University in Upland, IN as God awakened my own heart to pursue revival. I graduated with a degree in Business Administration and went on to earn a Masters in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2005.
In 2006, as a recent seminary graduate and an apartment maintenance man, the Holy Spirit prompted me to pursue revival for the Church of Dallas, Texas. I began walking the Dallas streets—praying, fasting, and asking God, “What does revival look like for this city?” That was really the start of it all. In the Spring of 2007, we saw hundreds of people from over 200 churches in the DFW Metroplex gathered under the banner of Jesus Christ. We met over a period of 40 days in a tent on Gaston Avenue to worship, pray, renew our love and passion for the Lord, and see our city transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Since then, God has led us to cities all over the nation, partnering with the local Church to equip believers to share the Gospel and make disciples.
In 2011, I completed my Doctorate degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, specializing in Outreach and Discipleship. My unique desire is to engage people with the Gospel directly in their own environment, as well as through media and public speaking. I believe there is hope for our nation, and it begins with prayer as well as stepping out into the community to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey of walking with the Lord has been one of the most amazing adventures I could have ever asked for. The unknown of the narrow road is the beauty of it all. Whether it is smooth and exciting or rough and challenging – every season is refining.
Our ministry team definitely has challenges that we must face every day concerning our direction, balance, and guidance in life:
What cities will we be pouring into this coming year to see revival?
How much will our team be traveling on the road?
Have we seen a culture shift to a positive change?
How do we know where the finances will come from to cover payroll or purchase Bibles and wristbands?
What extracurricular events will I miss for my four kids who are all involved at RISD?
When will I be able to go on a date with my wife?
But thankfully, even in the midst of these challenges, I can hold onto the promises of God. I trust God has called me to this work of faith. And so as the obstacles are before me, I look to depend upon the Spirit of God and the Scriptures to help me embrace this daily walk of faith. The decisions made might not make logical and practical sense, but I am simply required to operate by faith. Even when my mind and my flesh sometimes want to respond differently, faith is my only option. Hebrews 11:6 says, “Now, without faith, it is impossible to please God…” So, this is my heart’s desire – to simply walk by faith. One step at a time.
Time to Revive – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Time to Revive is a nonprofit ministry committed to pursuing revival for our nation and beyond. We partner with the local Church in cities across the U.S. to see believers awakened and empowered to share the Gospel and make disciples in their everyday lives. We also work with civic and business leaders, schools and universities, families, media outlets and the arts sector to bring the entire community together in order to see city transformation through the message of the Gospel.
Time to Revive also has a special heart for Israel. Because, as Christians, we have received such rich spiritual blessings through the Jewish faith, we seek to bless Israel both materially and with prayer and support (Rom 15:27b). Currently, we are serving as the Global Team for the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, a prayer movement initiated by the Israeli Knesset that strives to gather the nations to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Jer 3:17; Ps 122:6-9). We believe God has uniquely positioned us to serve as an advocate for Israel within the U.S. and in other nations across the globe.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In our ministry, one of the biggest ways we define success is achieving a lasting impact on a community. We believe the good news of the Gospel transforms lives and even communities, so that’s our aim when we pour into a city. We want to see the Gospel influence all realms of culture: business, government, media, entertainment, family, education, and religion. This good news isn’t meant to stay inside church walls.
We believe community transformation can really happen when there is a remnant of people who possess humility, unity, and hunger to see their community revived by the message of Jesus. We look for those three markers in every community. During our time in each city, we pour into this remnant, equipping them to share the Gospel and make disciples in their everyday lives. This remnant then carries on the mission of equipping the saints and discipling new believers even after we leave a city. And in this way, lasting transformation can continue.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes.” – Romans 1:16
