Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndel Crittendon.
Kyndel, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story starts with an aching desire to connect with others in the most creative ways, and find meaning and depth to life and the world. As a nerdy homeschooler blossomed into a buddy young chef at the age of 15, while everyone else was wondering what the ninth and tenth grade held in store for them, I was wondering how I could make the world a better place… through food… in culinary school. Even though the desire to continue cooking for that masses ceased (and I switched over major, getting a B.A. degree in hospitality management at 18), I found a happiness in serving others through the Magic of Disney, as first a cast member in the Main Street Confectionary in Orlando serving sweets and then as a photographer in Anaheim, CA at Disneyland. But my calling would be in the skies. I am now starting my sixth year as a flight attendant, while taking an acting class where the nerdy, introverted homeschooler goes to die; still serving others, but finding that I can connect with others on land, and in the air and find beauty in keeping both my head in the clouds in my feet on solid ground.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was never a smooth road! I found myself being pushed through high school, thrust in college at 15 (going to school at the same time as my father, mind you), then flying to Orlando and then once again traveling, but this time cross country to Los Angeles, only to go back to the east coast to start a career as a flight attendant in Chicago! The struggle now is to find an outlet for my creativity.
Please tell us more about your brand, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I wouldn’t say it’s a company, more than a self-made brand. I’m known for inventiveness and individuality, giving anyone a chance to express themselves any way they see fit!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Who hasn’t helped me along the way? Everyone has played a major and important part in my development – old boyfriends (and girlfriends), instructors, my parents, siblings and family, my therapist! They’ve all contributed something in unique and special ways. There’s beauty in everything, and something to learn from everyone.
