Meet Lakitria Malone of Girl Talk Salon in Mesquite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakitria Malone.

Lakitria, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a master stylist located in Dallas, Texas. I started doing hair as a teenager and realized I had a real talent that I began to pursue professionally. I’ve been Licensed now for 11 years. I’ve worked at girl talk salon for six years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy road in the hair industry you deal with the inconsistency of clients that want to bargain shop going from stylist to stylist trying to find cheaper prices. But over the years I have successfully built up a strong clientele that prefers quality over quantity. I’ve been able to do this by continuing to educate myself on relevant trends, in order to stay ahead in the hair game you have to be open-minded this is an ever-changing industry so my motto is never to stop learning.

Please tell us about Girl Talk Salon.
I’m a stylist/barber, I have competed in different hair shows and took home 1st place trophies. If you ever want to see all the magic that goes on in the hair industry I highly recommend going to a hair show that’s where the best of the best come to show off their amazing talents! I specialize in weaves and cutting. In the hair industry, I’m known as “Bobdabuilder ” because I’m building Bobs. The cutting skills I have learned along the way by attending different cut classes continue to set me apart from the rest.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had the chance to go back in time, I would to take advantage of the different classes and opportunities that have been offered over years.
