Meet Lamonica Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lamonica Williams.

Hi Lamonica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I became a textured hairstylist or textured hairstylist accidentally. I got really sick from medication and was in the hospital for a week, the doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong, only that I was really sick. I figured out what was wrong with me doing a process of elimination of what I have done that prior we’ve been waiting in the hospital. At that moment, I knew that I was going to change my life all the way around and go fully natural: medicine, food, hair, everything.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. I’ve had a total to 2 brick-and-mortar salons and three Salon Suites which is really a lot of trial and error. The first Salon I didn’t do my diligence and make sure that I have my own paperwork was together, so they cause a lot of mistakes and a lot of things not up to code. The next salon that’s when Covid hit and unexpectedly having to shut down. And then reopen, and everything just not flowing correctly. It was almost like two years completely off, and my mom said completely changed. My business structure has completely changed so I had to shut down just because it wasn’t the right location or the business model. Right now, I’m in a salonsuite in the location which I absolutely love because I’m in Plano I’m close to my house. I just fill a bit more at ease, and I having to travel so much to and from.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in textured hair or natural hair. I think I love most about our salon is we focus on hair care well also providing color services, silk press, natural hair styling, Locs, and Extensions. I love that our salon not only does really good hair styling but we also care about the health of your hair and your scalp.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family, my husband, and my kids are my big supporters and my biggest motivators.
