Meet Landry Braud (Landry Has Landed)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Landry Braud.

Landry, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana, I undoubtedly developed a passion for art, as well as a strong appreciation of the surrounding culture. Living in two cities with an abundance of colorful culture, scenery, art, diversity and music helped play a strong influence in my ever-growing appreciation for the arts. Since I was young, painting, drawing or sketching had always been my creative outlet. My love for painting slowly developed into an art business as a “side hobby” in college, and I still take commissions to this day.

As I grew older, I began to develop a strong passion for traveling and exploring this beautiful world, one trip at time. My first time traveling to Europe lit a fire in my soul and sparked my ever-growing love of traveling. I consider myself an “old soul.” and the Old World Charm that envelopes Europe completely captivated all my senses and every ounce of my being, leaving me with the endless desire to travel to the ends of the earth, experiencing as many cultures as I can along the way.

Traveling and experiencing new cultures is what has continued to expand my knowledge and appreciation of the arts and fuel my creative passion. After I planned an incredible itinerary (if I do say so myself) for a magical, week-long road trip around Ireland back in 2018, several people (that I had unknowingly inspired through my travels) reached out to me wanting all my advice, recommendations and itineraries on traveling to Ireland. Realizing that I loved being able to share my travel tips with all my friends and family, I knew I wanted to build a platform where I could easily share my travel guides, recommendations, travel photography, tips and vision with the world.

Thus, Landry Has Landed came to fruition! One trip at a time over this past year, I’ve slowly been building out my website and expanding my knowledge of travel blogging, photography, and appreciation of the arts through my passion for exploring the world and embracing new cultures. In addition, my Instagram (@landryhaslanded) and my blog (landryhaslanded.com) have become a new outlet for me to channel my artistic abilities and express myself to the world.

Since I am still currently working as a full-time dental hygienist, as I have since received my Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in 2012 (Geaux Tigers!), Landry Has Landed is just my fun side hobby at this time. However, my hope is that the more it grows (which is slowly right now, since running a travel blog is basically a full-time job in itself and those blog posts don’t write themselves, ha!), the more it will open up new opportunities that allow me to pursue my passions even more!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the main challenges I’ve had since starting my travel blog has been finding the time to work on it! Since I’m currently working full time, I have much less time available than I need to be able to catch up with blog posts, keep up with Instagram posts to stay current, continue learning and expanding my knowledge in the industry, and continue working on my website! I always feel behind, so it’s hard to balance work and relaxation since there is always something new to work on. I still LOVE writing and designing my blog posts, but I would just love more time during the week to work on it!

Another challenge I had, initially, was building my website. I had never built a website before and had to start from scratch, trying to familiarize myself with the WordPress platform, coding, SEO and designing a website in general. I tried to do it myself for far too long before I came to my senses and outsourced help to do certain tasks I was struggling with!

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Landry has Landed a travel blog I started where I share my travel recommendations, tips and destination guides on how to explore this beautiful world in luxury and style, while still taking into consideration every budget! I love to share my experiences, tips and guides to hopefully help make travel planning easier and more accessible for people!

Like a lot of people, I used to think that you needed tons of money to travel the world, which kept me from taking more trips in the past. Fortunately, though, I researched and uncovered several tips and tricks to not only help people travel more but spend less money while doing it! I love that I am able to show people on a budget (like me) that traveling can be as affordable or luxurious as you want it to be. The world is full of incredible places just waiting to be explored, no matter how big or small your wallet is.

What sets me apart from others is the fact that I cater to various budgets on my blog, no matter how affordable or luxurious of a trip someone is looking for. I am also about to start training to become a travel agent on the side, as well, so that is another aspect I can offer to people since it will only expand my knowledge of the field.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would’ve delegated more tasks in the beginning. It took a lot more time to try and set up my own website and do everything myself when I could’ve just been researching and learning more about the field and using my already shortened time more efficiently. In short, just manage my time better.
